Senator Kennedy Hospitalized
Sen. Ted Kennedy was hospitalized this morning with "stroke like symptoms". No matter which side of the political aisle you lean towards, let's offer our thoughts and prayers for the Senator. His family has suffered enough over the years, and the news reports from Washington are calling it "very serious". Obviously, there's not a whole lot more publicized at the moment.

Hope he recovers quickly

Hope he makes a full recovery - I don't agree with a lot of what he's done, but he has done a tremendous amount of work for Massachusetts, and is a great advocate for the commonwealth on the national level.
Considering how little Kerry actually does for MA, Kennedy's importance is especially high. He also is well-known for being a great boss to his staff (again, the opposite of Kerry, who treats his staff poorly) Sen. Kennedy expects a lot, but treats his staff members very well, and has been known to help them a great deal as they advance in their careers. It's a big reason you'll never see a tell-all about Kennedy's life; his staff is loyal, for good reason. Hopefully the quick medical response will mean good things for his recovery. |
They are saying now that it was a seizure and not a stroke and that he is conscious and joking with family. He is undergoing tests to determine the cause.
|
I do hope he'll be okay.

I hope he will have a full recovery. Mass General is an EXCELLENT facility--so I hope the "Harvard Educated" residents and physicians will figure out the best course of treatment.
Apparently, he had a "seizure" vs. a "stroke". The seizure are the nerves and the stroke are the blood vessels. Apparently, sometimes they work together to cause the same problem--brain attack/stroke. |
I think he has started to look bad in recent years. While I am not a fan of his politically, and dont much care for him morally, I do wish him the best and a speedy full recovery.

Apparently he's been communicating with a team of Mass General doctors for years, with all the medical problems that have been springing up for him lately. That's where they figured out he needed surgery on his carotid in the fall, and maybe it made a difference today. |
Yah, hope he's alright.

Anyway, Kennedy seemed to be in fine form in Thursday's Senate session - ranting on the floor about Republican efforts to block a bill giving collective bargaining rights to public safety officers. Last I heard was that he seems to be doing better and they're just waiting to see test results. |
I'm now hearing it's a brain tumor...
|
^^^^MSNBC just broke a lead teaser:
BREAKING NEWS: Tests reveal Sen. Ted Kennedy has malignant brain tumor http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24728667/ CNN: Sen. Edward Kennedy has a malignant brain tumor. The hospital treating Kennedy released a statement today saying that the tumor was found during tests after the senator had a seizure Saturday. The tumor is in his left parietal lobe. Full story soon. |
That explains why they haven't released much information as yet. Every news channel this morning was reporting that it must have been much more than just a seizure.
|
Wow. I kept wondering what was up, since seizures rarely come out of nowhere. Left side, no less. I have to admit that I'm not a big fan of the Kennedy family, but I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. May the Senator pull through this with all of his capibilities intact.
