DTX Fraternity looking to go national

Hi,
I am a founding brother and alumnus of Delta Tau Chi Fraternity at Iona College in New Rochelle, New York. We have been a recognized Greek organization at this campus since 1987. We are currently in the beginning stages of trying to expand our local fraternity and go national. What I am looking to find out is...

1. Are there any other DTX Fraternities out there who would be interested in discussing the possibility of merging in order to create a national organization?

2. Are there any other local fraternities that may be interested in joining with us to create our own national greek organization?

3. Are there any groups out there that are interested in starting a fraternity or are in the process of starting a fraternity at their local college or University and would like to be a chapter of Delta Tau Chi?

My email is DTXSpanky@aol.com if you would like to email me directly and I look forward to hearing from you.

I would think that if there are other organizations out there sharing your letters, their goals/values/ritual are probably going to be different. One or both of your organizations are going to have to give up some of your traditions. If you're cool with that, go for it.

It may be better to try to expand on your own. Try establishing interest groups at local universities so that you can ensure that your fraternity remains yours.

Even though it says "sorority," most of the ideas will work for fraternities as well.

My fraternity's letters have a unique meaning to my brothers and I. Although they are the same letters as the fictional fraternity in the movie the similarities stop there. Our crest, motto, colors, mascot, etc are unique to us.
We are a multi-cultural fraternity which was started over 20 years ago to fill a niche that was missing in our school. Our organization is based upon four primary pillars: Brotherhood, Academic Excellence, Cultural Pluralism and Community Service. We have a strong Alumni Chapter and are currently organizing a National Board to explore expansion to other schools. We are incoporated within New York State and are in the process of arranging for insurance through our Alumni Chapter.

Do you wear tshirts that say "Since 1987"? That's awesome.

That's what I was thinking!!
Sorry, the one in "Animal House" came first.
Seriously, you really ought to consider a name change. You could get sued by the movie folks.

One of my fraternity brothers was a member of Delta Tau Chi -- a professional org for law enforcement types.

If Delta Phi Epsilon the professional fraternity and Delta Phi Epsilon the sorority can't sue each other, I very much doubt that National Lampoon/Universal is going to sue a local fraternity. Unless they're using the font, images etc from the movie or the National Lampoon name.

yeah, what they really need to watch out for is if there is some kind of honorary or professionaly org. like the one kevin mentioned, gets wind. They'll sue because they're jealous they're not in a real fraternity.
