Mari Ann Callais to be honored
This July, at Theta Phi Alpha’s National Convention, Dr. Mari Ann Callais will relinquish the gavel of National President after serving three consecutive terms. In honor of her visionary leadership, her dedication to Theta Phi Alpha, and her devotion to advancing leadership opportunities, the Theta Phi Alpha Foundation has established the Dr. Mari Ann Callais Leadership Endowment, proceeds of which will fund leadership programs for members of Theta Phi Alpha.
Dr. Mari Ann Callais has dedicated her professional and personal life to advancing the experiences of college students, particularly sorority women. Her doctoral dissertation focused on the impact that sorority rituals have on the lives of contemporary college women. She has impacted various facets of higher education, having served as a college admissions professional, a Greek advisor, a college professor, a university housing consultant, and a national speaker on college campuses in her professional life. She also has volunteered at every level of involvement in Theta Phi Alpha Fraternity. I am sure that many of you have experienced “Dr. MAC” in a variety of settings, whether meeting her at National Conventions or Conferences, visiting your chapters, hearing her talk about living your ritual, or singing along while she plays guitar. She is one of the people who makes a lasting impression! In a world that tends to look for the negative, Mari Ann is one of the most outspoken crusaders for all that is right about Greek life. Please join me in recognizing Mari Ann by donating to this fund. Your donation will make an impact and it will honor Mari Ann in a very special way. You can donate to the Dr. Mari Ann Callais Leadership Endowment by sending to Theta Phi Alpha Foundation, 27025 Knickerbocker Road, Bay Village, OH 44140 (include a note that the donation is for MAC's fund!) or by calling 877-THETA-PH(I). We thank everyone for their support! |
This is wonderful. I believe Dr. Callais spoke at our 2004 convention.

She has accomplished quite a bit and she's what, 40 years old?
|
That is great news! She is always a fun speaker with many good points!

That is fabulous news. Mary Ann Calais is fabulous, a terrific speaker (saw her at SEPC) and a truly nice woman.

Good for her. She's one of the sweetest people I've ever met with an infectious personality and a wonderful speaking ability.

I had no idea! Dr. Callais is really to be commended!

I met her a couple of years ago when she and another consultant (Auburn XO) came to WGa to interview CA's, CPs and other folks about what we would like in a Greek village. They did a wonderful job of recapping what we said.
I was glad that they were Greeks because they knew the questions to ask, unlike the company that wanted the Greeks to use apt. buildings....oh so bad an idea! |

I think it's cool to have a Foundation in little Bay. |
Dr. Callais spoke at our Convention last summer and she was one of the most entertaining and engaging speakers I've heard in a long time! The endowment sounds like a wonderful way of honoring her dedication to Theta Phi Alpha.

I just met her last semester when she came to Towson to discuss Greek housing. She's from Louisiana, so we talked about my old Greek Life Advisor. She's very outgoing. I hope Theta Phi can find another leader as gregarious! I think she told us that she does work for Tri-Delt. Does anyone know in what capacity she works with them?

Dr. Callais just spoke at Gamma Phi Beta's Convention last week! :D
