Rush Events

Hey I was wondering what Rush events have worked well for the Lambda Chi Alpha chapters around the country? I'm looking for some more ideas to start getting an idea for fall rush. Any input would help.

Thanks again,

Brother,

At our campus our recruitment week events include a BBQ, giant tarp slide, and a night of Go-Karts and a local track.

We also do all that we can before recruitment to meet (and recruit) gentleman and invite them to anything and everything.

At our institution (Southeast Missouri State) we find the events you host do not matter, but what you do to get the potential new members there (recruiting them) is what gets the guys to come out to events.

We try and eliminate "rush" and switch completely to recruitment with the mentality that no one will come unless we get them there!

We also incorporated the core values of True Brother for our recruitment this past fall and had our largest class (26) in nearly a decade!

Good Luck Brother!

We just go and get a football and us and the guys start playing on campus. We invite any guys that we met during the student orientation. This is a great way to meet guys that you might have missed. They just want to meet new people and this is the best time to meet new people. Plus, were in the middle of the dormitories so we put our name out well!

I utilize Facebook quite well in gathering names since our admin refuses to give them to us. lol. I started 3 weeks ago, no other fraternity here has started recruiting freshmen yet so We got a definite advantage and we already have a couple guys that really want to join. ( unfortunately we have deferred recruitment so they can't join til spring).

Well, we're a smaller chapter so we're really trying to push big on our formal rush. We initiated 13 this January and have about 5 associates from informal rush (we would be initiating them in the fall, but grades knocked out all but one!). Our Delta is assigning people to contact PNMs from their hometown and organizing rush dinners so that we can tackle lots of area across the state and get some interest before formal rush.

One good thing, though, is that since our alumni relations are finally getting back together, we have lots of alumni begging us to come have rush parties at their houses, so we'll probably be doing that a lot. We're also considering using one of our brothers' boats to go have a party on a lake somewhere.

Matt you are right about getting Alumni help and glad it is finally coming together for you. That is a plus for the Zeta as shows PNM that we are more than just a 4-5 year Brotherhood.

Having demographics of where people come from and having alums in the area will be helpful. The actives will have to participate in all of them of course!:) Well depending on the length of the drive!:D Concentrate first off on the larger school areas which will be helpful in the long haul.

The very best of recruiting for the fall.
