Why Are You Proud to be a Chi Omega?

Sisters--
I think sometimes that we are a definite quiet minority on this board, and too often we don't toot our own horns (or get shouted down when we do). I think we need a reminder of why we are too womanly and modest to boast, yet have so many reasons to do so.

To me, I'm proud to be a Chi Omega because:
-I've had amazing opportunities to meet other Chi Omegas by being an active alumna. I've attended Conventions, Firesides, and even an Alumnae Conference this past November. I've met many of the "Chi Omega All-Stars" (as my friends and I call them) and I felt comfortable around each and every one, because she is my sister.
-I still get teary-eyed every year during Pref because I remember my Pref Night, and again each spring as the seniors I've grown to love become fellow alumnae.
-I still get chills when I hear the Symphony recited, and when I hear "Shades" sung, especially at a wedding or candlelight.
-I have my house decorated in cardinal and straw, and people think I'm just trendy, but my sisters know THE TRUTH. :)

So, fill me in...why are YOU proud to be a Chi Omega?

Great question!

I am proud because...
  • the same organization that meant so much to me as an undergraduate means even more to me today
  • our founders wanted an organization which would be truly national and they accomplished that in the first 10-15 years
  • I am inspired by the quality of women who are members of our organization
  • of the name recognition Chi Omega enjoys
  • my mother was a Special Initiate

Sisters,

I'm proud to be a Chi Omega because of all the wonderful reasons listed above, and after 8 years as a member, I find that she can still awe me with her mysteries and beauty.

My turn

I chose Chi Omega at my school because of the people in the chapter. After becoming involved, being on exec, attending Firesides and Conferences I know it is because of my fabulous sisters from all over the US.
I remember in 2004 being so overwhelmed by all the beautiful Texas Chi O's and they were just so nice and sisterly. We used to have a t-shirt swap every night in our room and would invite sisters from all over and it was like one big girls sleep over. I have made so many friends in other chapters and I live in a building where I have met several Chi O interns who have all be awesome.
I love talking to other people because nearly everyone has heard of Chi Omega and most of the time have only good things to say :)
I am most proud of our sisterhood and because every Chi Omega I have met has welcomed me as a sister.

LICO,

Bella.

I am recent pledge at the Eta Alpha chapter in Oregon. In January I will be initiated and I can't wait.

I am proud to be a Chi Omega because I can't think of it without smiling. Chi Omega has become such an amazing, and important aspect in my life. I love my own chapter, and have nothing but love for all the sisters I don't know. Being apart of Chi Omega feels like something I was destined to do. I am Chi O proud, and Chi O strong.

I am proud to be a Chi Omega because:
- of the amazing sisters in my chapter
- I can call my aunt, one of the classiest women I know, a sister :)
- of our connection with the Make-A-Wish Foundation
- our symphony & ritual inspires me to live to my fullest potential
- the well-deserved recognition our name receives
- we are the largest sorority in the United States
- the number of amazing women we have in our organization

There's a great quote I read somewhere: "My letters do not make me any better than you; but they make me better than who I used to be."
I truly believe Chi Omega has changed my life for the better and I am so proud to be apart of this amazing organization. Like Britta said, I can't even talk about Chi O without a huge smile on my face.
