Please learn proper English and please post this in the EVENTS area. This is not a Fraternity Recruitment event in the way you think it is.

Actually, he is speaking a language. It has rules that govern the way words are used and spelled just like standard american english. Yes, some words are not spelled correctly but he is just using vernacular used by many African Americans in their daily lives. And clearly, if they want to learn some steps from the fine Brothas of A Phi A, they might want to become one. Its a recruiment opportunity of sorts... Thanks :0)

And if you're going to nitpick about language, you may want to consider making this sentence grammatically correct: Quote:
PenguinTrax told him to place this post in a different forum because it doesn't fit "recruitment" here on GC. She's a mod for a reason. |

He is not speaking AAVE. He is speaking a language only known to those who identify with the statement "Huked on fonix wurkd fur mee." You know, the ones Bill Cosby rebuked in the name of Jesus. |

They might be eeeeeeeevil ;), but they're definitely on point.
But Vivid. I really understood what she was trying to say. I took a linguistics class, and I've learned that we have Standard American English, not proper English, and a bevy of dialects. However, the youngster needs to learn and utilize Standard English before trying to recruit a step team coach. Text message/MySpace speak does not apply in all situations, and as an African-American woman, I've never used a "3" in place of an "e" to be understood or cute. Can we ask for an investigation of Clarksdale HS English department? I won't blame Purdue for Vivid's stance. |
