The Alaska Experiment
For 90 days, a group of brave (or crazy) volunteers will leave civilization as they know it and brave the Alaskan wilderness. Their food will have to be caught and the dry food they were given will be rationed.
It's on The Discovery Channel now and looks interesting. God bless them because it wouldn't be me. At least they get to live in a cabin. Losing daylight 7 minutes a day for the winter? That by itself scares me. Alaskan and visiting vampires love it, though. http://dsc.discovery.com/tv/alaska/p.../programs.html http://dsc.discovery.com/tv/alaska/a...ticipants.html |
This ought to be an interesting show. Used to live in Alaska, so the whole daylight thing during the summer and winter is kind of strange, but you get used to it ( sort of).
Did they where in Alaska they would be at? |

Icy Bay is an extremely remote fly-in location formed by the retreat of the Guyot, Yahtse and Tyndall glaciers over the past 95 years. Several active glaciers, including the largest in North America, the 50-mild-wide Malaspina Glacier, continue to feed into this 30-mile-long, multi-armed bay strewn with giant chunks of ice. Oh and are the bears hibernating as soon as it the long winters begin? I can't imagine dealing with the dark AND dealing with those animals. I'm afraid of all bears but especially polar bears. |
I caught a few minutes of that... I'm anticipating that someone gets eaten by the end of the show, by bears or by their fellow crazy people.

It did gross me out when I saw the bear carcas(sp) and whatever has been gnawing on it. |
