Hiring: Grad Advisor for LCA Chapter at UofMiami
Hello brothers,
As I understand it, the position has already been advertised via email to all the current High Alphas of our fraternity, but I wanted to make sure the thread got out to GreekChat, too...in case there was anyone interested in applying. After my tenure with the HQ staff as an ELC, I didn't know exactly where to go. I know I wanted to go somewhere that I could really make an impact with the fraternity, and I hoped to live in as an advisor to one of our chapters. I had been hearing a lot of bad news coming out of our Miami chapter (Epsilon-Omega Zeta), and became especially interested when I found out the Fraternity Graduate Advisor (FGA) position would be opening up, as the previous brother (Alex Funk from our Delaware chapter) would soon be graduating. So, I did some homework and found out that Funk and the Alumni Control Board had really dealt with a lot of trouble at the chapter, and they weren't in the best position to be in. I knew I'd be able to help them if I got the job, and so I threw my application in. I was hired, and I've been helping the men of E-O Z rebuilding ever since. We just won the "IFC: Most Improved Chapter of the Year" Award and are working toward using the current momentum to continue improving. I know this chapter has a bright future, as long as the work and effort is put into reaching "ever-increasing usefulness." However, I graduate this year with my Masters in Elementary Education (paid for through this job). So, the Greek Advisor, is searching for some new candidates to start next school year (in August 2008). To learn more about applying for this position, please PLEASE call me at 305-763-2535 or email me at "c.hall6 at umiami dot edu" I really want to get a qualified brother in here that will be able to build on their undergraduate experience to take this chapter to new heights (and get their graduate work done at the University of Miami while they're at it). The application deadline is coming up, and I know this would be a great opportunity for a graduating senior that wants to give a little back to Lambda Chi, so please email me and ask me any questions you have. Also, I ask that you announce this to your chapter at the next business meeting or post it up on the chapter bulletin board. Thanks brothers, In Z A X , |
A challenge and an opportunity
This would be both a tremendous challenge and a wonderful opportunity. I believe this is what Frank Maez has done at Hannover. He'd be a great guy for an interested brother to chat with.

You're right. Frank Maez has a similar position at Hanover, and I think his job description is comparable. But, if I recall correctly, he's also the High Pi. Here, I'm not the High Pi. Officially, I'm an employee of the University (with no elected chapter position), just with the chapter's best interest in mind. From talking with him, I know he enjoys his job dearly, and so do I.
Also, I forgot to mention another benefit of being the FGA here at the University of Miami. It's in the contract that the chapter must provide you with a room in the house (it's a one-bedroom apartment with a single bathroom on the first-floor of the house), a full meal plan, and $400 bucks a month. So, you'll get some spending money, too (or money to buy books). Looking forward to hearing from you guys about your interest in the job. Yours in Z A X , |
