National Science Sorority?

Hey everyone!
I am a biology major at Rhode Island College, and a former member of a local sorority on campus. I was thinking about founding a science sorority for females in the sciences when I decided to leave my previous sorority, but figured I would check to see if there was a national "science" sorority that I could start a new chapter for.

I would love any feedback!

Alpha Sigma Kappa is a sorority for "Women in Technical Studies." According to their website (and the women I've spoken with), the sciences fall under the "technical" umbrella.

Hey, one of GreekChat's first mods (equeen?) was in that sorority.

Phi Sigma Rho http://www.phisigmarho.org/

The national page says it's an engineering sorority but the UCSD chapter (http://phisigmarho.ucsd.edu/Joomla/i...d=53&Itemid=65) says engineering or science majors are eligible.

There's Beta Beta Beta for biology majors, but it's coed.

That sounds like such a cool idea. I was a Microbiology major undergrad. My first Masters was in Secondary Science Education. And I maintain the Natural Sciences collection at my library due to my science knowledge- I even took the Natural Sciences Reference class in library school.

First read the thread "Before You Found a New Sorority"
http://www.greekchat.com/gcforums/sh...ad.php?t=93174

Also, since Rhode Island College does not have engineering, it is not likely that either ASK or Phi Sigma Rho would look at starting a chapter there. If Rhode Island College has all locals, maybe you could see if the college would to open the campus to NPC sororities.

Other science ideas: Beta Beta Beta and Phi Sigma are 2 honorary organizations for science majors. Sigma Delta Epsilon promotes women in graduate science studies.

I think that there is at least one other engineering sorority out there other than the few that have been listed. However, I am not sure what the name of the organization is, but have seen it at various schools.

ASK would be open to any school with a significant amount of Sciences. We just want to make sure there are enough women to support the organization :)
