Lavaliere-ing??
 

What is the penelty for lavaliere-ing a girl for a fraternity brother?? I've asked my boyfriend before, but he won't 'fess up.. Curiosity killed the Theta Cat! Im trying to get him to handover the letters, but I'm guessing it muct be pretty bad, because normally he can't refuse me!! Im Waiting with baited breath!

Our lavaliering tradition is public knowledge, but far from universal, so I can share.

Whenever a brother lavaliers a girl, a posse is rounded up, mostly the brother's closest friends in the fraternity. They drag him down to our campus pond sing some bawdy sailor song, and throw him into the pond.

Much laughter and drinking ensues if the guy is willing.

The Fraternity of Presidents and Kings: TKE

One of my sisters was lavaliered by her Sigma Nu bf during our serenading last year and they tied him to a tree and threw all kinds of nasty smelling stuff on him. They ended up getting engaged like a month later.

BAH! I lavaliered my gf last semester, and somehow we are no longer together, but that's another story. A posse is usually rounded up among some of the closer brothers in our fraternity, and they hunt you/me down. When they finally caught up with me, they drug me to the entrance of one of the dorm towers where I go to school. They stripped me to my whities, taped me to a light pole, and ran off into the night. Yea that appears to be the tradition in some of our chapters also. Another one I heard of was tieing the Brother naked to a tree outside the Sorority's house . . . Or throwing him into a standing body of water drunk . . .

In the interest of fun or not, I would have some hurting brothers if they tried that stuff on me.

Mostly it seems more symbolic of leaving the fraternity of bachelorhood rather than the giving of the letters.
