Gift for a new member

Hello. One of my good friends is currently going through Delta membership intake. When she crosses, I would like to give her a meaningful gift to celebrate. I know that many Deltas collect elephants so I was thinking of giving her an elephant candle-holder. Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance for all helpful suggestions :-)

A new member into the organization will love and appreciate anything Delta. :)

Elephants are always nice; especially if you can get it engraved with her line name.

Just a thought.

lol--your friend talks too much.

ETA: Since she does, ask her what she wants.

I just meant that I didn't tell my friends about membership intake. Maybe that's just around these parts. Therefore, I'll just put my signal on, & move to another lane...

It's just that there are a lot of ways she could know without her friend talking too much.

'Tis true - some friends are even in the position of buying gifts for those that made the same line they were rejected from! And plenty of other possiblities, of course.

As for suggestions, personalized items are great as Gold suggested - it's a great feeling for a neo to see their name on Delta gifts. It even took me a few days to part with the gift tags and card envelopes that said "Soror" on them, because that's the first time I'd seen it next to my name! :D

I honestly never even considered that.

Some of my friends knew because they didn't see me around and they kind knew it was around that 'time'. Plus they knew where my interest where.

I agree personalized items are the best! :D

She is one of my best friends so of course I know where her interest lies and that she is going through MIP. She has only told those that are close to her.

IlovemyAKA 04-17-2008 12:55 AM

Those are some good points. Maybe you and the others could collaborate on a basket with several items.

DivineDiva47 04-17-2008 08:22 AM

If you can afford it our Founder's afghan is a GREAT gift. I love mine...smile! Oh,not sure if this has been mentioned but a Delta photo album she'll have tons of pics that she'll need to put some where.;)

I am a neo myself and personally when I recevied all my gifts last week, I loved every single one of them. As long as its a gift that represents Delta Sigma Theta, that all that really matters...
