Friend is heartbroken and confused!

I am confused also. A close friend of mine has been going out this guy for the last past 8 months. Recently she told her bf that he was the first one she ever had in her life, she's 21. She told me that he was shocked, and not in a good way. Within the last week, he just abandoned her without any reason. The only reason we can come up with, is that he wasn't too fond of being her first and only boyfriend for some reason. The situation is really confusing to me, because I thought it would be flattering to him that he was her first boyfriend at 21. I feel really sorry for her and I don't know what to do.

Some guys just freak out and don't want the responsibility of being the first anything. If that is the case then it's good that he's out of her hair. It will take time but she will get over it - when I think of my first boyfriend I cringe too!

I think the best thing you can do is to give her a lot of support right now, because she could start to feel a little sad and depressed about it. Unfortunately people do mean and cruel things and don't think of who they hurt. Considering this guy was her first, I can immagine this will be something that will be with her for some time. She might be afraid that the next guy will do the same thing. So just keep her spirits up and be a shoulder to cry on.
I hope she feels better.

being "first" is a huge responsibility. he probably just cracked under the pressure. Like Hootie says; just be there for her because it's probably going to take her a while to get over it.

You just replied to something so old that the Twin Towers were still standing in NYC.
