Gambling is where it's at!

Bottom of the 4th and the bo sox are down by 1 if they can pull through a win i'm 70$ richer http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

I took a gamble on this ticket: 10$ wager pays $81.70. I took the 'spos and indians who were paying 1.65 and 1.5 respectively and then went for the long shot with boston that pays out 3.3.

Atlanta choked in extra innings to kill my 'gimme' ticket (the ticket pays just enough to cover both wagers) so i'm pulling through on this one.

Here in Ontario, the best way to stick it to the gov't is by winning on legalized sport betting. After losing some cash playing black jack the other night I figure I gotta stick to what I know best. Anyone else have any gambling sins to confess? Or strategies? I have some pretty good ones...

Gambling is pretty dumb to me. I just stick with what I got and spend what I have.

I lived in Las Vegas for five years and the most I ever bet was $5 a week, on nickel slots.

Every once in a while, I'll buy a scratch off ticket, and usually I at least get my money back, but I'd never play regularly. It's probably been a year since I've bought a ticket. I like going to casino's, but I would never spend a lot of money at one. I figure there's no big deal dropping $20 or so in a night, considering a good evening of entertainment would probably cost close to that. It's like those lottery commercials on local TV, as long as people just do it for occasional fun it's fine, just don't get in over your head.

I play blackjack whenever I get the opportunity. As of right now I have never lost, but I have only played about 10 times in a professional environment. I will usually make around 50 bucks an hour playing $5 hands. I believe it is a good game if you are smart enough to know what you are doing. I group of my friends and I are going to Vegas during our fall break. I plan on returning a rich man.

You guys are dead-on when it comes to gambling at casinos, the best thing to do is walk away. The only exception as Clint said - Black Jack. It's the only game that gives pretty good odds and if you pay attention to the cards that were played you can walk away with some mad cash in no time.

Personally when it comes to sports I prefer hockey as well. I've been following hockey insanely (you'd probably geuss this if you've been keeping pace with the NHL thread) since I first hit the nets 13 years ago. And now that they've introduced a new segment called Pro Picks , I intend on cleaning up this winter.

One thing that I absolutely can't understand is when ppl win large amounts on the lottery and still play it afterwards. C'mon, don't be so damn greedy. There's actually been a couple in Ontario that won it twice.
There's also a woman from my town that won 5 G's on a $3 scratch ticket but still continues to buy them.

I know a lot of guys who get by making book, but I have had way to many run-ins with morons taking bets they cant cover. Its pretty sad when your bookie cant pay up but guys like that get a repetition real fast, so they don’t last long in the business. I personally like to bet on hockey, some teams just dominate and others suck so its pretty easy make a quick buck.

Jeff Gordon has a fair percentage of road race wins. I have bet twice on that before and won both times.
