Sorority/Rush Books

Hi everyone, I was just wondering if you knew of any books on the topics of sororities or sorority rush, etc. Positive/negative, outdated/contemporary, anything you can think of would be helpful.

I know there's a bunch but I was wondering if anyone has read any of them/liked them/found them interesting, ridiculous, etc. And if anyone has used one of them for Rush/Recruitment, was it helpful/unhelpful?

Thank you!

Save your $$$.

The stuff you get in those books is stuff you can read on GC for free.

I agree. Advice in a book is the same as the advice you can get here.

Also, local Alumnae Panhellenic websites have alot of good rush advice on them:

I agree with this, but if you have to have a book, Pledged by Alexandra Robbins is both interesting and ridiculous. It's also more current than most of the other stuff out there.

Save your money - read GC! :)

I was thinking more along these lines-- not necessarily a how-to book. The advice on GC is great, plus I feel I'm outgoing enough not to need a book (hopefully!)

Yeah I wouldn't recommend Pledged unless you can take it with a grain of salt. I buy some of it. Some of it is, in my humble opinion, very much fantasy. But this is your best bet...it's REAL, not sugarcoated here.

Wait until after you graduate to read Pledged. At that point, you can figure out for yourself what parts of it are true and what are not. And yes, there are some true parts, but ignore the ritual stuff she writes.

The general advice thread compiled and written by adpiucf is VERY comprehensive. If you still have questions after reading that, fire away.
