NPC Presentation Attendance Ettiquette

Hi! I'm an initiated sister of Delta Delta Delta (November 2006) at my school which has been open for expansion. Two sororities will be presenting soon and I would love to attend just to see how that works as I am very curious about it. Am I allowed to? Is it proper ettiquette? Who should I tell if I want to attend? I hope I phrased this question well. Thanks a bunch for any advice:)

Sincerely,
TriDPrincess

I would contact the Greek Life director at your school and ask them what to do.

Yeah, definitely ask the Greek Life director, but I'd say you're allowed to attend. It's a panhellenic event, so why shouldn't you be able to go? I know rules vary from school to school, but I'm pretty sure this rule remains the same.

It definitely varies. I know sometimes it's open to John & Mary Everybody and they are thrilled to have anyone attend, but sometimes the presentations are closed to the "public" and are only open to those on the selection committee.

33 said it first & best -- contact the Greek Advisor.

Tri-D, if you're allowed to attend and it's a fairly open event, please let us know how it goes!

As most folks know here at Bama we recently had 3 expansion presentations. Because the seating was limited at the location that was used, Panhellenic requested that each chapter limit the number of representatives sent. It would not be fair for one chapter to send a bunch of people taking up all the space and not giving the other chapters any room to sit.

I suggest you talk to either your Panhellenic Delegate or President first to see if they have been given any guidelines/numbers. If there is room, then by all means go and take your sisters with you. Having never been through the expansion process before I found it to be really interesting. It was also enjoyable to learn more about the other NPC orgs presenting.

besides confirming with the powers that be that you would be welcome to attend, i would suggest that you dress "business-like*" and silence your cell phone while the presentation is going on. be sure to introduce yourself to the national officers and let them know how excited the campus is to have them presenting-it will make their day and they will remember how friendly the tri deltas were that they met.

*business-like-wear something like you would wear on "dress to pin" day. nice slacks, sweater or blouse, dress or skirt/sweater/blouse.

FSUZeta is completely right.

If you are allowed to go to the presentations, I would try to go to all of them or as many as possible. I would follow this same model of dress and meet and greet at every presentation. It is important to welcome each group to campus, as you don;t know at the time who might get picked.
