Question about recruitment

I'm going to be a sophomore next year at a competitive SEC school. I know that recommendations are a very big deal, and was wondering how to approach potential recommenders. I don't have a local association in my area (Chattanooga), as far as I know. There is one, however, in the city I go to school in. Should I contact them to maybe set up a meeting to let them get to know me? Also, should I include both high school and college information on my resume? I know this is early, but Id like to contact them before they are bombarded this summer. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

The first thing I can recommend is that you read the thread at link posted above. It is filled with great advice and will be a good place to start, find answers.

Recs from your hometown are ideal. Tell everyone and their mothers that you are going through recruitment in the fall. If you can find one sorority alumna, even if there isn't a chapter of her sorority at your school, there's a good chance that she will know alumnae of other sororities. Plus, some sororities allow collegiate members from other chapters, so if you have any friends in sororities at other schools, they can write you a rec. Good places to start are friends of your family (older brother/sister's friends, mom's friends, dad's friends), high school teachers, coaches, directors, sponsors of activities you participated in, women from your place of worship, women from any jobs you've held or currently hold, women from places you volunteer, etc. The earlier you start looking for sorority alumnae, the better your chances of finding as many as possible.

Once you've exhausted your list of personal contacts, fill in the "holes" with women from your nearest Alumnae Panhellenic. A friend's little sister had a similar dilemma. She is from Maryland (nearest APH is DC) but goes to school in a major Southern city WAY far away from home. I contacted the APH in her school's city, but they said that PNMs should get recs from their hometown APH. I helped her find alumnae for all the chapters at her school, so she didn't have to go to the DC APH for recs, so I'm not sure what you should do. I'd say email someone from the APH in your school's city (and explain that there is no APH near your hometown) and see if you could get recs from them.

you might check with any of the local sorority alumnae chapters to see if there is a panhellenic alumnae assoc.in chattanooga. sometimes they are listed in a "club and organization" booklet from the local chamber of commerce, or the individual alumnae chapters might list their next meeting in the newspaper(sometimes in the sunday "living" section of the paper in a special section that lists meetings or many local clubs and professional organizations.)

The (inter)national websites for the sororities should also have a listing of alumnae chapters.
