Texas Music!
Okay, I am not sure if anyone is going to know what I am talking about, so let me explain. Texas Music is kind of like country, but mostly about Texas, and usually has a different feel- more like rock.
The most common musicians are Pat Green and Robert Earl Keen, and old ones like Jerry Jeff, Ray Wylie Hubbard, and Gary P. Nunn, but there are so many awesome guys and girls out there. Like the Groobees, who's lead singer wrote "Wide Open Spaces" for the Dixie Chicks. This is kind of like my passion LOL. I want to know if anyone knows what I am talking about, and has heard of any of my favorite bands, like Cory Morrow, Jack Ingram, Cross Canadian Ragweed and the Great Divide (Even if they are from Oklahoma). On Earth as it is in Texas, Missy ------------------ "To the world I promise temperance and insight and courage...." Purpleturtle- I never liked country music before, except for an occasional song, but I must say Pat Green is pretty good. I really like his song 'I Like Texas'. I heard that he was a member of Farmhouse at Texas Tech, but I am not sure how true that is. Any ways, It is good to hear from a fellow Texan!

Man, you know I am into it. Living in SA, and being around Austin, New Braunfels, Boerne, San Marcos and the like, I hear it all. There are a ton of ice-houses around here where they all play. Then theres Floore's Country Store in Helotes, about 10 minutes from campus. All the grates have played there, Hank Williams Sr, Loretta Lynn, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Willie Nelson, all the greats, a true texas honky-tonk. Now they host the people I like; Robert Earl Keen, Charlie Robison, Corey Morrow, BR5-49, Slaid Cleaves, Gary Allan, Jack Ingram, Radney Foster, and others.
I think you'd like Reckless Kelly. There outta austin, and have a great Rock/Country fusion sound. I heard them on the college radio station, and then downloaded a few of their songs, they even do a great cover of AC/DC's "Shook me all night long." I think their best songs are; "Come on over," "Lonely all the time," and "Hottest thing in town." Damn they are good. And they play everywhere in the area, and their shows are only about 10 bucks. Saw them at Gruene Dance Hall. Awesome experience. See www.recklesskelly.com. Houston has a great radio station that plays them all, see www.kikk.com. You can listen on-line to see what purpleturtle and I are talking about. You wont be sorry. PS:TEchADPI, Reckless Kelly is playing the Tech Football pre-game show on November 17. FYI for you. I love Reckless Kelly! I got a demo cd from Larry Joe Taylor, who's kind of like a mentor for Texas musicians. He works a lot with Lloyd Maines (the Dixie Chick's dad) to produce a lot of groups albums. If anyone likes Texas Music, do me a favor and download some of Mike Graham's songs from audiogalaxy or somewhere, and check out his website: www.mikegraham.com (I don't know how to post links!) His girlfriend is one of my soror's and one of my best friends. Some great songs to check out are "I feel like drinking today","West Texas sailing", "My momma said". He's great, and I am not just biased.
Also, Great Divide has the ultimate college song-"College Daze", I swear it sooooo describes college life!!!!
