Convention 2008

Anyone planning on attending Convention this summer in St. Louis?

NutBrnHair 03-17-2008 11:27 AM

I'll be there -- can't wait!

This will be Convention #12...or is it #13 for me?

Anyone else here joining us?

I was really hoping I could swing it, but don't think it will happen. I was hoping the Cardinals would be playing at home that week so I could convince my hubby to come, too, and watch the baby when I was busy! But they aren't. And as good a dad as he is, I don't think he could handle Mr. Mom for almost a week with an 11 month old! :p Plus we have a family wedding in August, my mom's 60th bday in July, something else I have to travel for in the fall - I only have so many vacation days!!!

I'm bummed as I was hoping to finally meet Nut, but oh well. Maybe 2010!

Darn it kathy, but I do understand.

2010 will be in Orlando, ya know...lots for kids and families there!

I should probably see about going since I'm not too far from St. Louis, and who knows when it'll be back this way again. If I do manage to swing it, at least I won't need to pay for a hotel room!

Come on chitown, it's a terrific experience -- Chi Omega at its best.

2010 is Orlando? Perfect! My husband has a bunch of family in Orlando! He will be entertained and we'll have built in babysitting for dinner. And maybe we can do a Disney trip as well...Isabel will be almost 3!

Orlando? Wow. I had better start saving my pennies now!! I'm excited for this year though--our housemother is celebrating her 50th year as a Chi Omega, and she will be attending Convention with us as a delegate (she's also one of our advisors). We are all so excited to see her honored for achieving this great milestone!!

ps--NutBrnHair, is there a known record for number of Conventions attended? If so, who does it belong to, and how many did she attend (this will be number three for me--nowhere near your number--I'm very envious!) :)

You really should attend if at all possible--Convention is amazing, and until you experience it, you can't even begin to imagine what it's like. Honestly, I was completely overwhelmed the first time I attended.

And if you can't make it for the whole time, they do have another registration option where you can pick and choose which events you will attend. Plus, then are just charged for what you are attending, which is great if you aren't interested in some events or can't fit them into your schedule. :)

Not that I know of. In looking through past issues of The Eleusis, it seems during the 1950s, 60s, 70s... they always had a picture called "Confirmed Conventioneers" or something like that.

I have been able to attend every Convention since 1982 when I represented my chapter as G.H. until 2006 when my dear mother passed away June 30, 2006.

Well, I really wanted to go this year - but I doubt I'll be able to save up the money.

BUT....2010 oh it's on! Perfect hometown location. And if any sister needs a place to stay count on me to provide for you. So I'll just have to wait another 2 years it seems!
