Well, I'm back

About 2 1/2 months ago I logged onto Greekchat and thought to myself "I'm just so sick of thinking and talking about greek life and fraternities."

I just needed a break from it. Over the last two months, not a single greek thought entered my head. And if I felt one coming on, I just pushed it to the back of my head behind "get gas" and "buy toilet paper".

This phase reminded me of my senior year. I was so burnt out, that I really didn't care about greek life anymore.

Has anyone else gone through a stage like that?

How do people handle the overload/over exposed feelings when you are a greek/LXA?

Has anyone else thought "if I see purple, green and gold again or have to tell some stupid freshman about principles and ideals, I'm going to fuckin' puke."

Is it normal to want a break?

Burn out, yes.

Normal for wanting a break, yes.

Been there and done it and then climbed back in the saddle again!

Yep, that's definitely happened before. I've been lucky enough to keep it in check while still in office but it seems to affect alumni especially strongly.

I'd think that it would affect alumni more because they're generally not in positions of being at a chapter level and seeing how they're involvement can affect a chapter; unlike how if an undergraduate officer drops the ball, it's bad for the chapter. We had one of those last year - a bad Theta spoiled the community service involvment of the whole chapter. It could also be that they're moreso on the serving side of the eqn instead of how undergraduate chapters receive the services. This could lead to greater burnout of Alumni.

Adam
