Death of Auburn DG

I recently found out that a sister of Auburns Delta Gamma chapter was fatally shot last night. The police found her and rushed her to the hospital, but she unfortunately did not make it.

You can read Auburns statement, as well as the Delta Sigma chapters statement, on Auburn's website:

Please pray for Lauren Burk's family and friends, and for the sisters of the Delta Sigma chapter. This is such a sad event.

That is tragic...Laura Burke, family, friends and the sisters of the Delta Sigma chapter will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Wow, I'm not a DG, but that is just awful. I will be praying for her family, friends, and sorority sisters. How tragic.

I just heard this on CNN. Terrible. Always have to be careful.

Lauren

Please accept my sincere sympathy in the loss of your Delta Gamma sister, Lauren. She attended high school with many of our neighborhood high school students and was a member of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, which is not far from our home.

God bless her family, friends and sisters during this sad time.

I saw this morning where one of her friends said she had just finished fussing at him for not calling her when he promised to. He said he now feels horrible that was one of their last interactions.

I guess she had just become a DG because I read that she was a freshman. Is that accurate?

R.I.P.

I didn't realize this until today but she graduated from George Walton in Marietta where many AOIIs from Ole Miss graduated from too. This is a very sad day for so many of her friends from high school. I hope they catch the person(s) who did this to her.

all of us in chicago are praying for her, her family, and all of our delta gamma sisters. :(

The news referred to her as a "pledge" but I was told by an alum who wrote a rec for one of her pledge sisters that she actually pledged in the fall.

This is so horrible. My sister and I were just commenting last evening while watching on the news about Lauren and the other girl at Chapel Hill, and how both were from Georgia and what pretty girls they both were.

My sincere prayers and thoughts go to Lauren's family and friends. Let's hope they catch this person soon, and the news reports seem to be encouraging in that regard.
