Respect for Fellow Greeks and All Posters

Greetings all!
I am coming to you with a request. I know how very passionate we all are about our individual and collective organizations, NPHC, NPC,NIC IFC etc., but let us all work on being MORE courteous and respectful in our posts. I recently visited a fellow Greek's forum, where there was a blatant disrespect of my Sorority and my Fraternity.

For some assanine reason, said offender was under the impression, it was okay to take a jab and neither I or any of my Sorors would or should respond. Let's make something abundantly clear. This is the WORLD WIDE WEB. You post...You WILL get a reply, and NO ONE besides the OWNERS of this site and moderators of these boards can do anything about it. In such case of blatant negative behavior, I personally think said poster should not only be reprimanded publicly, but the post should be deleted. Nevertheless, I pat the Moderators on the back for trying to keep the boards clean of Terms of Service infractions.

I am a woman of strong conviction and I recognize, there are folks on this board that simply have no home training...thus, even after their initiation, they still will not practices such golden rules as, if you do not have something nice to say, do not say anything at all.

Please don't get me wrong there have been many heated debates on here that I have learned a lot from(and participated in), particularly perception issues and I would not in a million years suggest, we should stop bringing up sensitive topics (except for some of those issues many of my fellow NPHC family have repeatedly said we will not discuss...Sorry! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif )but people, people, people, STOP THE ILL BEHAVIOR. I HAVE SAID IT ONCE... I WILL SAY IT AGAIN...SUCH DISRESPECT SHOULD CEASE IMMEDIATELY...THINK BEFORE YOU POST, AND IF YOU UNCONSCIOUSLY HAVE PARTICIPATED IN SUCH BEHAVIOR AND YOU ARE CALLED OUT, TAKE IT LIKE A CHAMP, ADMIT YOUR WRONG DOING AND MOVE ON.

None of us are above our respective organizations. When we act out of line, we need to realize we have done our Founders,Sorors and Fraters a MAJOR disservice.

I hope each of you have a wonderful Valentine's Day...I sure will http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

Best Always!

Thankyou for that note. It seems a lot of people need to be reminded of the old saying 'If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." But what the problem is, is that we shouldn't have to tell people that. We are in college now...and yes that means we should act more maturely, think before we speak or do any action. Not because we want to impress others by "talking like a college student...using big words and all that stuff", but because this is the time when we define ourselves. None of that highschool mess of popularity contests, which group is prettier, which group doesn't fit it...we are all different, and this is the time to acknowledge that fact. Treating people with respect whether you write it, say it, or act it out, we should know better by now. Everyone has their own opinions...but there are certain degrees of expressing them. Thanks to all of those who have that courtesy, and Good luck with school!!!!

I second both of you! I think that people need to realize that there is a difference between disagreeing with someone and making person attacks. Also, I want to remind people that one person does not necessarily represent all members of one organization. For instance, if you meet one person that you don't like, and they just happen to be an XYZ, that doesn't mean that all members of XYZ are people you can't like and that doesn't mean that XYZ is a bad organization. Some people just don't seem to realize that???

I agree.
I also felt his statement was out of line. I am sure if someone directed that statement to him or our fraternity, he would have gotten pissed off, also. However, IGNORANCE IS BLISS!
It's relentless to argue with a person who is unreasonable.

The derogatory comment about ZETA PHI BETA was bad enough, but to call a women, particularly a black women, an ugly BIT@$ is true indication of ignorance, immaturity, and disrespect.
Cause I know that any woman who looks, thinks, teaches, raises, feels, cares, gives and loves like my mother is definitely not a BIT@$.

Nevertheless, you can't waist your time with that. Life goes by before you know it and I know I don't wanna look back and realize that I gave some idiot a couple minutes of my valuable time. I could have used that time to get my drink on http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif .

ZETAS, I LOVE ALL YALL! A WOMEN IS A WOMEN, regardless...

Everytime I see a tag on a vehicle that is in Greek Letters or someone comes in my store with Greek letters on I ask where they went to school. It does not matter if they are GLO/BGLO or my Fraternity, they are members of the Greek community and are special. The Greek community is very important to the schools of our country and unfortunaly people do not relize this because every time some thing bad happens it is front page. Good deeds go to the rear!
Granted there is competition among Greeks we are better prepared for the worl we live in than independents who come out of school. I say Hail to all of my Greek Brothers and Sisters!!

Hail back at ya TOM.
Hey are you by any chance related to WYATT?
I like how Kurt Russel (Wyatt Earp) slapped Billy Bob Thornton a few times in Tombstone. That was cool.
With the exception of Doc Holiday, I thought Wyatt was the baddest Muthu....
