Something to Think About:

If the World were 100 People

There would be:

57 Asians

21 Europeans

14 from North and South America

8 Africans

52 would be Female

48 would be Male

70 would be non-white, 30 white

59% of the entire world's wealth would belong to 6 people and all 6 would be citizens of the United States

80 would live in substandad housing

70 would be unable to read

50 would suffer from malnutrition

1 would be near death

1 would be near birth

1 would have a college education

99 of them will not see this message, because only 1 would have a computer

When one considers our world from such a compressed perspective, the need for both acceptance and understanding become glaringly apparent.

Thats a very good point Mikki http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif We are definitely not the same country we were 50 years ago. We should accept and understand those that are different from us but I think thats pretty basic. Our world is changing so much that we need to take it one step further. Maybe I'm reading into it too much though.

Great food for thought. I've heard that before but it's great to be refreshed on how things are on a smaller scale.

Thanks for sharing the info. This was actually the topic of our ethics class today. Does reading this count as studying? http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

Another stat...

10 of them would be gay.

I wonder how many would be of what religious background? How many jews, christians, muslims, etc.

I once saw one with the religious stats, but I didn't copy it. I know it's posted somewhere on another board I frequent, I'll try looking for it.
