I'm BACK!! Roller Coasters!
Woo! I had KD retreat, then I left to go to Cedar Point (America's Roller Coast, tm), But now I'm back and ready to post again. Sorry I didn't warn of my absense. Anyway, I was sitting on the Raptor thinking... "I wonder how many GCers like roller coasters?" So that is my question. Did any of y'all go to a theme park this year and conquer the biggest, baddest 'coasters you could find? http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Did anyone go to Cedar Point? If not, go!

I am SCARED to DEATH of roller coasters. The only one I will ride is Big Thunder Mountain at Disney World.
I screamed bloody murder on the KIDS roller coaster at Jazzland last summer. I wouldn't even go NEAR the mega-zeph! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif |
I love rollercoasters. My only problem is I'm only 5'2 and I always feel like the seatbelt doesn't buckle me in tight enough. It makes me think I am going to fall out. That is kind of scary.

I love a good roller coaster...but only if they have those over the chest harness thingies. Here's why:
A few years ago I went to an amusement park with my then-boyfriend-now-hubby. We were going on this ride that goes in one-loop-the-loop and then goes through it again backwards. I got in the car with him and all it had was one of these bars that goes over the lap. This is normally all well and good. However, I am 5'2 and 100 lbs soaking wet. My hubby is 6'3 and 220 lbs. Are you starting to see a problem here? He pulled the bar over his lap and it fit him snugly. I, however, had a space of about a good eight inches between my lap and the bar. Before I could voice my concerns the ride started. We were upside down twice...and I felt myself falling out of my seat and that little bar caught my lap. I have never held on for dear life like I did on that ride. Funny thing was, my husband thought it was the most fun ride...he couldn't understand why left it shaking. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif |
Greeklawgirl- that is exactly what i am talking about. I used to have a flat stomach and the same problem would happen to me. I've put on a lot of weight the last 2 years so I'm sure the bar goes down now, but I too would have to hold on for dear life since the bar would never touch me, but whoever I was sitting with.

Paramount Kings Dominion is about 45 minutes from my house and I enjoy the grizzly(the track is all wood and it really jerks you around in the car. I like the Beserker(Its like a big boat on a pendulam that send you upside down with a shoulder harness of course. Then theres the Anaconda and the Volcano there too. My fav wet ride there is white water canyon. an oldie but goodie http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

I absolutely hate rollercoasters. I am so scared of heights plus cannot stand being thrown around every which way on some of the rides. I even hated being on that swinging ship dealie. You know, the one that rocks back and forth. I prefer more fun like playing sports or my fav, going to the beach over theme parks.

I live about an hour and a half away from there so I've been there a few times too. I hate the grizzly! I'm rather thin so that lap bar doesn't do a great job of holding me in. So even though it doesn't go upside down, I always feel like I'm going to fall out because the ride jerks you around so much! I went last month on a Monday and it was great because I got to ride every ride I wanted to, and the only roller coaster with more than a 20 minute wait was the hypersonic xlc. |
Last time I rode a coaster it about wrenched my neck, so I guess I'm a little old.
But after having grown up in Ohio, I love Cedar Point and the area around it. We (A bunch of High School and college friends) used to camp at East Harbor and Gem Beach every summer. There was this huge dance bar in Sandusky... DeltAlum |
Wow..I love Cedar Point. I used to go there every summer. But sadly I've not been there in a few years. I want to ride the Millinium Force(sp?) so bad. Did you ride it?
I used to be terrified of coasters...but after I rode the corkscrew at Cedar Point when I was 14..you can't get me off them!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif |

SSS1365,
Cool http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Its always nice when you can get a bunch of rides in without the wait. I havent been to Kings Dominion for about a year. I'd say the one ride I stay clear of is the shockwave(stand up ride) because It put pressure on my knees last time I was on it. Delt Alum: Cedar Point sounds like a lot of fun. |

I used to go to Cedar point with my Jr. High marching band every summer! It was *AWESOME*!!! It's too far of a drive for me now, though, since I live in TN (used to live in WV). Last time I was there was when I was 15. I rode the (at the time new) Grasshopper or something like that...it's that green & yellow stand-up coaster. Oh, well. What was it called? LOL! Anyone ever been to Kennywood in Pittsburgh? I went there when I was 14 and rode the "Pitt Fall"---a 200-some foot free fall ride. It was really fun & scary!
