State Days
Anyone want to report on their Zeta Days? Georgia is tomorrow at Geogria State Univ and hosted by the Alpha alumnae group. Sherry Server-Tilly is speaking - one of my all time favorite ZTA speakers ever! Will report back!

Texas Zeta Days in San Antonio was blast! There were 4 of us that rode together from Dallas including a friend that flew in from Cleveland.
We stopped at the city of West for kolaches. West is very Czech-influenced and the "Czech Stop" is legendary. http://www.westfest.com/ www.TexasZetaDay.com Friday night was the alumnae reception & dinner then we watched the collegians do "stomp" & t-shirt contests. Saturday morning was the opening ceremony with ZTAF major donor presentations, scholarship awards, fun night awards and some alumnae awards. Collin County got a certificate for getting out 10% increase! Our VP/programs received the Zeta Lady award for our chapter and our VP/Membership received the "Lone Star" award for Outstanding continued service. I went to a fun FRED seminar where we played versions of Hollywood Squares (I got picked to be a square!) & "Higher or Lower" from Price is Right. That was clever because it used items from the grocery store that send money to Komen or other breast cancer awareness foundations. At lunch, Nan Boetcher did a "roll call" where you stand up if you fit the category. Since you are supposed to do it quickly, we always called it "popcorn". It gets everyone moving and is lots of fun. Also good for acknowledging different people in a group i.e. major donors, past scholarship recipients, past officers. There was also the "Zeta spans a lifetime" service for seniors, the Order of the Shield/White Violet service, Certificate of Merit presentations with the keynote speaker, Laura Mauro. I wanted to talk more with Laura but she had to leave for another event. Saturday night we decided to stay for the dinner cruise on the river. It was hysterical, with two little boats motoring along singing Zeta songs. On the way back to Dallas, my friends asked to stop at West again. Can't get enough kolaches! |
New Jersey & New York Zeta Day was in West Long Branch, NJ was this past Saturday. The NYC Alumnae group did a great job at hosting & organizing (ok I'm a bit biased...). We had a Zeta in the City theme - lots of pink and black decorations, so pretty! In addition to a raffle for some really great baskets of goodies (we asked them to be either for a girls night in or girls night out) we also sold ring pops & "bling rings" to raise money for the Foundation.
After talking about the chain of chapters (and how there's a thread on GC where people posted how much they like our chain!) Keeley McDonald Riddle did a 'roll call' to find out which chapter everyone was from. It was great to see so many chapters and areas of the country represented in NJ & NY. An even bigger surprise was the actual chain of chapters had been brought to Zeta Day! We all enjoyed the chance to see our link in person. Collegiate chapters performed Broadway songs with a Zeta twist of course, so fun!! |
NC Zeta day was on April 5th in Charlotte and it was a blast!!! I hope everyone had as much fun as we did! Snaps to everyone who was recognized for their hard work this year! I was really excited that my chapter got the recognition that it did! :)

Florida ZTA Day was early February and it was a special day with two of my favorite Zeta Ladies (Barbara Purks and Nora Nell Hardy Jackson) achieving their White Violet status and I was awarded Certificate of Merit. Saw several old friends from all over Florida including several GCers (not FSUZeta unfortunately!). Gainesville alumnae chapter did a great job with their planning!

Our State Day was in Lancaster this year on April 12. I had a bridal shower that I had to attend, (since I am a BM!), so I missed it. I heard it was wonderful, Malena from National council was the speaker and the theme was "how to be a Zeta Lady" My Alumna chapter won an award for best Colligate/Alum relations and crown chapter. |
