All nighters

I have a huge presentation and a 5 page paper due tuesday at 8am that I haven't started yet. Every time I have set aside time to start it, I start thinking of something else and not the work. Help I am a terrible procrastinator.

Refer to Newbie's post about procrastination. But just to give you peace of mind, we have all done this. Personally, I have never started a paper until the night before. I have finished a 7 and 10 page paper in one night. For us procrastinators, that extra pressure helps us get things done. But if you really are looking for a cure, keep a date book. Schedule an hour or so on a day to work on that paper. Stay offline and keep your TV off. Or schedule a fake due date for yourself a week in advance. If you're like me, you will forget the date it was due and when you look at that date book, you will make sure to get that paper done the night before! When you remember the real due date, you will be pleasantly surprised.

Also, if you have roommates, let them know about your dilemma. I used to be a big procrastinator when it came to studying for tests and I would use any excuse (phone,tv,eat, visit other peeps'rooms)to keep myself from cracking open the books. Finally I told my roommate to help me by "forcing" me to study. Everytime I would whine and say "okay ill just watch this show and then ill go study" she will be like NO and snatch the remote from me. She also kept the phone away and told callers that I "wasnt to be disturbed" until I finished studying. One thing about my roommate though, if she really is gonna do something, she really will. Even though I knew that it was my idea for her to help me out, I finally gave up trying to convince her to change my mind and studying. And I always do good coz I am not in a rush to cram or anything.

To letting go of a lie
Yes you've made me stronger
Baby, by saying goodbye"

I have to vent. I got my huge paper done but I still have to write my speech. I hate having to go to work, and school

Congrats on getting your paper done. I have confidence that you can get everything done!

I find that I always do my best work under pressure. Then again if I don't fully understand the assignment that can make for a half-ass job. So for future assignments maybe get an idea going in your head about what you want to talk about...get some research done and read through. Then if you want to wait til the last minute it won't be as stressful.
Good Luck in the future.

I am a HUGE procrastinator, mostly because I never really know where/how I want to get started..so my new organization trick is to make an outline, just kind of basic to get my thoughts together..it helps A LOT!
