AKA per Wikipedia
Rec'd this from Constance -
List of Alpha Kappa Alpha sisters - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...cted_officials |
I didn't know Marla Gibbs is an honorary AKA. I love her. She's adorable.
I learned something new today. Wanda Sykes is an AKA. |
Sykes pledged at my alma mater, they had an article in our alumni magazine a few years ago.
|
Good stuff.

I didn't know Helen Willis crossed at Alpha Chapter (sorry, Roxie Roker will always be known to me as Helen Willis). :D
Congrats to AKA being "promoted" to featured article. Yall did a great job of cleaning and editing the article's content] |
Soror Sykes' nephew went to undergrad with me..and he's an Alpha. Small world! :D
|
they missed Soror Mae Faggs Starr, the first US female to participate in 3 Olympics (1948, 1952, 1956). Soror Starr won a gold and a bronze medal. she ran alongside Wilma Rudolph at Tennessee State University and was an alum of the Alpha Psi chapter.
big omission, to me, and i'm biased. she was one of my HS teachers. RIP, Ms. Starr. |
Site not 100% Credible
^^^
That's why I don't put too much stock into Wiki. As you pointed out Sorors were omitted; while some ladies have been listed as members, but actually are not. BTW, Wanda Sykes was on JLeno last night. I've seen her name hyphenated. I wonder if she remarried. |
Isn't it up to AKAs/the sources the site cites to keep that site credible?

JMJ is not a Soror, per one of her relatives on another listserv.
