William F Buckley

I didn't see a link to this, and to me, it seems like a pretty big story.

It's a sad for American conservatism, I think.

When people hold up Ann Coulter and Bill O'Reilly as representatives of conservatives, I would mentally console myself that WFB was still kicking, and I can't do that anymore.

RIP. But, I found his writings painful.

Which ones did you read?

ETA: I really found the things I read by him to be entertaining or eloquent, even when they weren't about anything important really. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that a person of liberal disposition wasn't swayed to his political position, but to find his writings painful is surprising to me.

Some of those that I read in the National Review. It was a while ago, so I can't quote the articles.

But your are very correct in your assessment of Coulter and Billy O.

The American conservative movement will never be the same, thanks to WFB.

I was a huge fan of Firing Line when I was in junior and senior high school. Wm. F. Buckley was a principled conservative with a conscious--a true thinker and intellectual, unlike some of the partisan shills and blowhards who trumpet conservatism today.
