Help KDs!!

Hello Ladies!

I was recently chosen to be a Pi Chi and our first task is to learn about the sororities on our campus. My group was assigned KD and I am stuck on the following questions :( Would it be too much trouble to get a few answers? ;)

1.Find the name of KDs magazine/national publication.
2.What are new members of KD expected to learn?
(I'm assuming everything there is to know about KD but not sure if this is a trick question lol)
3.How long is each new member period? (not sure if this varies from campus to campus)

Thanks so much!!

Panhellenically,
PrettyLittleΠX

Laaaaaaaaazzzzzzyyyyy!

Jeez, sorry for the crash, KDs, but good lord, Pi Chi, have you even visited the KD national website yet or did you hope to just get spoon-fed here so you didn't have to do ANY work yourself?

2 seconds on google will give you immediate answers to at least two of your questions and the info. is also on their website.

How can you be in college and not know how to do research??!?!???

4.Year KD joined the NPC.

Pardon the forum crash...

Is it customary for Pi Chis (or non-KD New Members) to even know what KD New Members are expected to learn?

Yes, I visited the KD national website and Wikipedia. I was just hoping for a little help on those particular questions b/c I got the other 10 questions through those sources. So no, I didnt come here to be "spoon-fed"...just a little guidance. I didnt try Google, but since you say you found answers I will try that too.

I dont know. That is why I asked. I got these questions from my Pi Chi mom and there are KDs on our Exec board so I'm guessing its ok?

Since you signed your name "panhellenically," have you considered actually talking to the KDs on your campus? I suspect that was the intent of the exercise after all, no?

Members on this site are always willing to help when needed, but I think people also like to see some effort put forth by those doing the asking. It is a good life lesson.

Seriously, and I mean this in the kindest way possible... go meet a KD. On your campus. In person. As far as I know they do not bite. It would be a very "panhellenic" thing to do.:)

If you visited the KD website and the Wikipedia page, then you should know the answer to # 1.

# 2 & 3 cannot and should not be answered by any sorority member, esp. on a random message board. (I agree w/ the previous posters who said go ask a KD on your campus.) Though the answers are probably on the KD HQ website. And at least you'll get an OFFICIAL word, rather than from some random Kappa Delta (like me). ;)

Why's that? It's not secret info. It's ALL over the web. And it's accessible from the KD site to non-members. Yes, that'd take some clicking around effort but I don't see why it's a problem to just try and be helpful and polite either.

I think the point of the exercise was to find the info ourselves. However, I did ask my KD friends the questions pertaining to their particular chapter. So I guess I just dont understand why I am being attacked. I searched KDs national website, Google, Wikipedia and asked some members and I still dont know the name of the national magazine or what the members are expected to learn. I used this as a last resort. Sorry if I offended anyone, I am new here and I was just looking for a little help.

hey there! Im goign to be a Pi Chi this fall too and I have the same assignment but for a diff sorority...sooo check your private messages! good luck finding answers.

My question is...is anyone going to quiz you on the answers or are they just going to trust you to find the right out? For example, if you for some reason read somewhere that KD's magazine is called The Nautilus Shell, are you supposed to just tell the rushees that?

As for 2 & 3, I really don't understand why the Pi Chis (or anyone outside of a KD or KD pledge) would need to know that.

This just makes no sense to me....if this is info the Pi Chis are going to transfer to the rushees, I certainly wouldn't want to run the risk of incorrect information being put out there. But if it's just a "quiz" among the Pi Chis...I would say, "I looked on KD's national website and didn't find this information. That tells me that it is not for non-KDs to know."

Huh, interesting. I found the name of KD's national magazine in just a couple minutes on their national site...

I agree with 33, I can't imagine why a rush counselor needs to know what KD members are expected to learn, my answer would be "All about Kappa Delta."

Just because something isn't secret info doesn't mean it should be widely and readily available.

True, but I personally don't see the harm in publicizing how long the NM period is. I think it's a bit much to have Pi Chi's know what NMs are expected to learn during their NM period. Especially if they have to learn that for each sorority. Seems unnecessary.

This thread is really making me wish we had a mod. (And I didn't intend to hijack with the whole mod issue, but seriously, it's been almost 6 months now and we still don't have one.)
