NPC Badge Day: March 3, 2008

Badge Day
2008 Badge Day

"The 26 member organizations of the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) are celebrating International Badge Day March 3, 2008, an annual event during which sorority women everywhere honor their Greek affiliations by wearing their badge or letters. The theme this year is “Wear Your Badge With Pride.” International Badge Day is co-sponsored by Herff Jones Inc. Greek Division."

Lol how is there a theme? Of course you're supposed to wear your badge with pride! And double lol about being sponsored by HJGreek. I'll wear mine, though!

skylark 02-13-2008 07:57 PM

Agree with Lucy's observation that the "theme" concept is warped. I guess in previous years I was shamefully wearing my badge?

How could you!

I'm curious...what were the themes in previous years?

skylark 02-13-2008 08:15 PM

This is the first I've heard of themes.

I did a search for badge day 2007, and came up with this: http://www.npcwomen.org/resources/pd..._Day_Flier.pdf

I guess when they say "this year's theme" they don't mean to exclude previous years.

What?? That was a search for Mitt Romney!

skylark 02-13-2008 11:35 PM

Sorry Lucy. I fixed the link... http://www.npcwomen.org/resources/pd..._Day_Flier.pdf

For 2-3 tries I was having trouble copying and pasting the link and didn't realize that I'd accidently copied the link from my OTHER browser window when I finally got it to work.

The other link was actually a search for a really good interview I heard on NPR a couple weeks ago about mormonism because I wanted to see if I could find a transcript online to it. Because everything in the news about mormonism tends to have Mitt Romney in it, the google search specifically excluded pages that talked about Romney.

I wonder if it would be inappropriate to wear a green ribbon under your badge for the sisters of Kappa Delta...?

Look at your ZTAs rules regarding draping. AOII allows a black ribbon be draped if a sister dies and a red ribbon for a new chapter. A green ribbon for KD would not be allowed, but I may push the rules and wear a black ribbon for a group of "Panhellenic sisters."

Yeah, I thought of that too. I think I remember something about turquoise blue and steel grey ribbons for a new colony and black ribbon for the passing of a sister... but I like the idea of a Panhellenic Sister :) Any Zetas want to weigh in on this?

Oh, no! The international signal for NPC distress!

That's as bad as a woman I know from a GLO whose name I'll withhold wearing her pin upside down since she put it on so she could see her letters... scary that she had actually been accepted to college in the first place...

We're a little bit liberal about wearing ribbons under our pins. Since a lot of schools aren't in session for our Founders' Day, we can wear them on our chapter Founders' Day, also for the first week after taking New Alphas. I still have my ribbons from when I was a pledge!

Ribbons...

I know that when we colonize at a new campus-we are supposed to wear a pink ribbon underneath our badge (as collegians) to show support. Does anyone know how that works if you are an alumna? Also, I like the idea of wearing a ribbon (black) under my badge for the sisters of Kappa Delta. I've said it before and I'll say it again-I believe in Greek Love and Unity for all the NPC orgs. Any thoughts?

I would think you could always make a ribbon loop and wear it pinned below your badge -

Badge
(space)
ribbon loop
