Suggestions
Hi ladies. I feel like our alumnae association is slowly dying a slow death. It seems like no matter what we do to try to attract new alums, or when we plan it, there is a very small turn-out to events. (And it's usually the same small group of people).
I am somewhat guilty because I've moved out of the immediate area where most of the events are held, but even when we plan things in the suburbs, no one comes to those either. We do have a lot of ideas to try to attract fresh blood, but I am just curious to what everyone else has done to get "out of a membership rut". Feel free to chime in from other organizations as well :D. We've located a lot of alumnae but it seems like there's always an "excuse" as to why they can't attend things. Even when we follow people's suggestions, and times/locations they would go to stuff, they STILL don't show. Just feeling very unmotivated and discouraged about the future of our organization :(. |
Hi,
Our chapter has gotten involved in a few things that our alumni come to/help us out. First, we have an alumna brunch eiether at school or one of the Alum's houses. Then we have formal in April, which more alum are attending this year than the last. And lastly, we started a new tradition of a jewelry party. I have my own Lia Sophia jewlery business, and I set everything up to where we made campus wide event out of it and it turned out to be one of the best events we've had with alumni and all. Okay just my .02, happy to help though! |
Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately though, we are not affiliated with any one chapter, so I don't think the "formal" is going to work..........especially when alumnae have not even come out to stuff to be that connected....forget about trying to get payment for this kind of thing.
Secondly, I know "jewelry parties" and the like are probably not going to go over well with the ladies in our group. I personally don't like having that kind of stuff pushed onto me, I wouldn't want to give anyone else that kind of impression of us either, especially when we are trying to recruit fresh, new blood. Anyone else have any ideas? |
