Darlin', I'm glad you specified cuz every good southern belle I know thinks USC = Carolina! :)
|

|

|
and thanks!
anyone else know anything about USC? obviously im really far from there ;) |
Well, it does have the moniker 'University of Spoiled Children' (USC) because of many affluent people that attend there. But all my friends who went there are happy and very laid back.

UNC = THE Carolina! :p :) |
Dear Belle,
Please check your PM box. The SC website is: www.usc.edu . Click on that for some facts about the university. Click on student affairs, check the menu for sorority and fraternity information. |
My daughter attends USC but did not affiliate. I did...in the olden days. What I can tell you is that rush is VERY competitive. And, I suspect that some kids at UCLA designed the moniker University of Spoiled Children. In fact the average family income of kids attending UCLA is higher than those at USC.

I know several people that left USC because they could not stand the surrounding area. They did not feel safe leaving campus.
|
^^^ That may be true, SoCalGirl. but sort of an unfair slam on the university maybe? I mean, it's not like you go visit the campus and don't notice that there's a pretty rough neighborhood surrounding the campus!
I think USC has done a lot over the years to IMPROVE the safety of the neighborhood by buying and rehabbing dilapidating properties...and they def educate their students on the importance of taking responsibility for their personal security. All of the Greek houses have very good security systems- better than most of the other houses I've been to at other schools in "better" neighborhoods. |
^I agree it's not fair to the university. But, these are people that went to the school over different years (decades) and had the same feeling. Which isn't fair to the student. :(

USC is a wonderful school with great history. The school and the community at large are working hard on making the area a safer place. THere is a lot of development downtown that is creating great opportunities for living for students and young professionals. I wouldn't hesitate to send my children there. To the OP, I posted my rush story in recruitment stories, granted, it is a decade old. PM me if you have any questions! |
thanks yall!
