Ok, guys...I went back to chick click since I am a glutton for punishment I guess. And it really hurts me to see that people all over the country are getting such a horrible image of the greek system. I am usually rather passive on this board, but I need all the help I can get here (ESPECIALLY PI PHI's!). There is a horrible incident of hazing that has been posted multiple times about a Pi Phi chapter and people are just getting a horrid perception of us. These incidents cast a shadow over all of our accomplishments and attributes that these people do not see. There is also the infamous Kappa cigarrette branding issue that is continually brought up to throw in our faces as a "SEE...sororities haze and are horrible." Guys, let's try to enlighten these folks and balance out all the negativity that is surrounding our chapters on the chick click board!

Yeah I saw that, too http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif. I posted in the yay or nay thread...so far nothing has started up again, which I take as a good sign! But ya know what, I'm convinced we just can't change their minds...there are too many there who have already made up their minds that Greeks=evil.

Don't worry about it too much...I guess that they really don't have anything better to do in their spare time! It's just too bad that there's all that stuff about Pi Phi and Kappa there...

OK, at the risk of sounding like an idiot, what's Chick Click?

Well I just checked out that forum and I noticed the majority of the posts with negative outlooks start out with the “my friend saw/told me”. I don’t know, im not about to say hazing doesn’t happen but organizations that do haze tend to be smart enough not to do it in front of “outsiders”. Basically it’s almost impossible (not saying you shouldn’t try) to change someone’s opinions about greek life when they use blanket generalizations about the entire system.

Dianne, don't worry about it...I just recently discovered chickclick myself... www.chickclick.com . Go to the chickboards, and go to the HigherEdu board...basically there's a whole 'war' going on between Anti-Greeks and Greeks. Lots of hazing reports there, too.

I know...I guess it's one of those naive kid things I have going on, thinking I can change all the negative stereotypes with a few posts. I guess what we are doing to change our communites through the greek system should work its magic all alone to change those whose minds are open. All we can do is try our bests to represent our letters beautifully on our respective campuses. I'm sorry, but I just have to speak up! I tried to read the ChickClick site but I simply couldn't stomach it! I have never in my life seen so many obnoxious people all in one place!

The thing that really gets me is that the general consensus of the anti-Greeks on there is "We're not jealous, no, we're really, really not. Why would we be jealous? We just don't like you". Riiiiiiiight! Call me a witch, but that just doesn't ring true to me.

OH!!! One more thing! If GLOs are as evil and shallow as these hatemongers make them out to be, why do we hope that our sons and daughters will grow up to join our orgs? I love my daughters and would never think of encouraging them to do anything that I would even DREAM would harm them@

Did you post under the collegeisgreat screen name? If that is your post, you don't need any help. You said everything I was thinking beautifully. I started to post until I saw yours and there was nothing really constructive I could add to what you had already said.

My advice to GCers is not to argue with them. From the posts I've read they've all got their minds made up anyway, and nothing we can say will change them.

Again pbpck, if that was your post you did an excellent job summarizing what it truly means to be a Pi Phi.

Thanks so much. Having women like you in Pi Phi makes it all the easier to have such pride! Pi Phi is the most wonderful thing that could happen to a young lady and I just wanted to make sure that girl's impressions weren't marred by a horrible mishap.

Than again, the people who only bring up issues like these probably wouldn't appreiciate what greek life is about and all of the positive things that are done. Everyone that I know who has gone greek has totally changed into a more well rounded person.
