Cornell De-recognizes Sigma Pi Chapter

After sending four freshmen to the Cayuga Medical Center due to excessive alcohol consumption at a Thanksgiving dinner on Nov. 17, Sigma Pi lost its official University recognition.

With this punishment, the chapter is not able to have any alcohol, is prohibited from hosting any social events and will not have a 2008 pledge class. Sigma Pi is not eligible to apply for recognition until Jan. 1, 2009.

According to the University, two of the four freshmen required life-sustaining medical treatment.

. . . The members are allowed to remain in their house.

This is so sad to hear and if it is true it should be delt with asap.

This could have been a life threatening situation and thank goodness no one died.

I hope an investigation will find out the true facts.

They are damn lucky no one died. At least it was a "dinner" so they might have had something in them to soak it up a little...that could be what saved them
