living in the house
hey everyone i was wondering if anyone can tell me if it is worth living in a frat house. i know its fun and you get to become close freinds with your brothers, but is it hard school wise, espesially with studying?

Unless your chapter makes the "Animal House" guys seem downright boring, I would recommend living in the house.
Does the physical house have a designated quite or study room that is actually used for studying? Also, does your chapter have house rules regarding daily quite hours and/or study time? And are these enforced? If so, then use them. If not, maybe you could bring it up at the next meeting. Also, what often may be more of a distraction is not the noise, but the temptation to put off your homework and "hang out" with your brothers. That is great and fun to do, but just know when to say no and get back to hitting the books. So when it comes to studying, if you aren't sure that being in the house is a good idea, then head to the library or some other area or suitable place. Or if your schedule allows, you may find it easier to study during the morning when many of your brothers are still sleeping on in class. Bottom line is that there are other options that hopefully should be fairly simple for you to utilize. |
I lived in house all 4 years. It has MANY pluses, but some minuses (school work can take a hit if you are not careful).

One of the greatest things was living in The House!!!
When I got married my Senior year, I was told I could not go to the house for two days! Wrong!!!;) That is where the action was at. It can be hard to study depending on the size of the chapter and house. BUT, GLOs want to have good GPAs. So, either study or at the house or the library. I did both!:D You are there to also graduate. |
