Rush Event Roundtable
Post all your Rush ideas here!
I guess I'll start... Our rush is 4 days long and usually occurs around the same time as IFC and NPC rush. Here is what our rush is looking like this year: January 30th - Wing Night January 31st - Games N'at (an arcade in the South Side of Pittsburgh) February 1st - Laser Tag February 2nd - Service Project in the AM, Bid Night in the evening. We usually end up taking the people who are getting bids out to dinner. Nothing too exciting. |
Wow.....that's the kind of Rush I'm used to. The chapter I'm working with is rushing for THREE WEEKS!! I won't even go into everything they're doing!
I'm hoping for a more exciting Bid Night, though.......I have to see what they have planned! |
we were traing to do a 2 week rush w cool event some of the event had to be cancelled =(

You guys mentioned Bid Nights. My chapter has traditionally done a week long rush, culminating in an open call to the pledge ceremony. I'm the new pledge captain for the next pledge period and am looking to spice up our rush/bid process. Our chapter nearly tripled last semester (15 actives pledged 37 new brothers!) and really needs to update our process. Any ideas for bid night activities?

If you're doing an open call to the pledge ceremony, then bid night might not be good for you guys, unless you feel that you need to control how many people you allow to pledge each semester. For us, bid night is when we invite the rushes to Pledge our chapter. Then our following chapter meeting is when we have the Pledge ceremony. Bid night isn't always necessary since everyone who comes to rush generally gets a bid. Ocassionally we've had some real jerks come to rush, in which case they aren't invited to bid night or to pledge our chapter.
