This is the first time that I remember that AEPi ever had hazing problems. I am sure it is s new thing for them as a National.

What I did not understand, while the were kicked off of campus, they can still live in the house. Is this normal there?

I remember IU having overcrowding issues in the past- not enough dorm space for the number of students that needed it.

So maybe they struck a deal with AEII nationals so that they didn't have to find mid-year dorm space for those 50 or so people. I would assume that the fraternity house will end up being more like a dorm that a fraternity house for the rest of the year.

When will they learn? If you haze, eventually, you will get caught.

AEPi

From what I've heard from some friends at IU not much went on here. Situation seems very odd but IU seems to have an overly formal and insular if not oppressive Greek system (about 3 decades out dated) from what I'm told and have seen from visiting.

But in any event, this situation seemed to be much to do about nothing. And while the ban is "just" for two years, reorganization of a chapter ain't easy.

And as noted above, allowing members to stay in the house seems to be nothing more than a matter of practicality as they had no where to go mid-year. It's a little cold to be thrown out on the street there this time of year.
