Elon Recruitment
I'm a new kid on here, but I've lurked for a while. For those of you who went to Elon recently, could you give me some heads up on how recruitment went, what it was like? I don't know much about each individual sorority, but that may be best for recruitment :) Though, I kinda wish I knew the "stereotypes." Thanks for everything!

GymnastA's retro story
MaggieXi's retro story washrinserepeat's daughter and her friend JupiterTC's colonization story ETA: I know that the Sigma Kappa chapter at Elon is one of our three-star chapters (a SK National award), which indicates the highest level of achievement in all areas of sorority membership (academics, philanthropy, sisterhood, recruitment, programming, leadership, etc). I would venture a guess that all of the groups at Elon win awards from their NHQ. This is probably a reflection of the entire Greek community at Elon being values-focused and driven. Elon is a great place to be Greek! |
Two of my girlfriends are Sigma Kappas. They are pretty awesome so I assume SK is pretty awesome, too. :)

I know its going to sound redicously cliche, but all the groups at Elon are really good. It's because there is a really strong greek life program. It is really up to the individual pnm to go into recruitment with an open mind, not listen to other people's preconcieved notions about the groups, and attend all the parties they are invited to.
And while each group has a "stereotype", most of the time once you are a part of greek life and you get to meet people in each sorority, that stereotype falls away. They are partiers, hippie girls, very smart girls, dorky girls, southern belles, beauty queens, altheletes and every kind in between in every single GLO at Elon. |
I didn't know too much about each sorority when I went through recruitment, and I think it was a good thing. Like Maggie said, each group is good, and I would have been happy to join almost any of them. Each group has a stereotype, but I know they've changed even since I graduated in 2004. You'll find all types in each group. A lot of the groups win awards at their national conventions.
As for recruitment itself, you'll have Icebreakers (8 houses), Philanthropy (5 houses), Sisterhood (used to be skit - 3 houses), Pref (2 houses), then bid day. It's a long couple of days, but thank goodness it's over fake break! Good luck :) |
Today's bid day. Hope it went well :)

I don't know how recruitment went at Elon, but I do know that a friend of mine is a new Tri Delta there. Congrats to them!

I have heard (not from an official source) that qouta was 33. And that everyone was around qouta. AZD took 35 - I know we had 1 COB from Winter Term and I think we took the qouta addition.

The chapter advisor for AXO emailed me and said it was 34. We took 34 women :) Congrats to AXiD, too!
