Build-a-Bear
The Tucson Alumnae Association is having a Build-a-Bear party in Feb. to benefit First Book. Is anyone else having one?
Here's the info from HQ on the Build-a-Bear Partnership ... First Book – Alpha Xi Delta – Build-A-Bear Workshop® Partnership Frequently Asked Questions Q: What is a Build-A-Party® Cele-BEAR-ation? A: Alpha Xi Delta chapters and associations across the country are invited to host pawsome parties at Build-A-Bear Workshop stores. Each party Guest is invited to make a stuffed animal. They choose it, stuff it, give it a heart and make a personalized birth certificate. At your party, we encourage you to make Read Teddy®, as Build-A-Bear Workshop donates a portion of the proceeds from the sale of this bear to First Book, as well as to other literacy programs. After making the bears, your chapter or association can select a local agency or organization serving children in need to receive the donation of new teddy bears for the children they serve. Q: When are the parties being held? A: Your chapter/association can host a party at any time with advance scheduling with Build-A-Bear Workshop, but Alpha Xi Delta has targeted scheduling our parties during the week of February 17-23, 2008. Chapters can also host additional parties as part of Spring Bid Day, Big Sis-Lil Sis Events, Initiation or Mother-Daughter Weekend. There are so many opportunities to take advantage of this exciting partnership! Q: How do we schedule our Build-A-Party Cele-BEAR-ation? A: Contact Build-A-Bear Workshop Bear Services (toll free) at 1-877-789-BEAR (2327) and tell them your chapter/association will be participating in the Alpha Xi Delta Service Party program. They will send a special registration form to complete. Complete the form and return it to Build-A-Bear Workshop Bearquarters (corporate office) prior to your party. Please allow 2-3 weeks for Build-A-Bear Workshop to process your discount approval. Q: What is the cost of the Build-A-Party? A: There is no fee to participate in a pawsome party, you pay only for the furry friends your chapter/association make and the cost of any clothing and accessories that you choose. The cost of Read Teddy is $18. Q: Can we get a discount? A: Build-A-Bear Workshop is offering a 10% Service Project Discount when you donate the bears to charity! Q: How does First Book benefit from these parties? A: Build-A-Bear Workshop donates a portion of the proceeds from the sale of Read Teddy to First Book. Q: Where should we donate the bears? A: Your chapter/association can select a local agency or organization in your community serving children in need to receive the donation of new teddy bears for the children they serve. You may be interested in working with the program to arrange for a time to distribute the bears and host a reading party with the children. |

<--------wants a bear now |
I cannot wait until our event on Saturday! I LOVE build-a-bears! When my chapter got our Alpha pledge class, we started a tradition that the Bigs give the lil's a build-a-bear at Big/Lil Discovery. I was so excited when I found out about this event. I've been trying to think of how I'm going to dress mine up and I still cant decide.

We're Building Bears in LA!!
The Los Angeles Alpha Xi Delta Alum Association and the Delta Rho Chapter at CSU Northridge will be building bears for literacy together at Build-a-Bear on Saturday morning. In addition to the proceeds donated to First Book, we will be donating the bears made to the Valley Trauma Center. I'm really looking forward to this joint alumnae/collegiate event!
