RPWs...

Hey girls, i'm the new VP: Membership officer at Hofstra University's Eta Nu Chapter. We're pretty young and have never had a formal or "by-the-book" rpw before. I'm pretty nervous because we have a CDC coming to watch our workshops this year, and i'm trying to find a way to appease the CDC by following the rules, but also to keep it interesting for the rest of the sisters. Does anyone have any advice, ideas, or suggetions that might spice up our rpw's a bit? Thanks!<333

What's an RPW?

Recruitment Preparation Workshop

You're supposed to have 3 a year...2 single meetings and then what is pretty much known as "work week" or "recruitment prep week".....depending on the chapter.

Take a look in your Recruitment Confidential....it outlines RPWs and gives you ideas for games and activities.

Here are some ideas that I've seen in the past:

Put someone in charge of being a "Spirit Leader" and have them give prizes to girls who know campus recruitment rules, Round conversation topics, and general knowledge about your chapter and DG nationally. (obviously, you'll have to educate them first...usually happens at your 1st RPW)

When setting goals (also 1st RPW) have the girls discuss their ideas....so you're not preaching to them all night....and maybe have them present, pull them from a hat, etc. Just make sure that the goals are attainable instead of ones that are impossible. EX....pledge women who were/are involved in one or more other organizations versus pledge all women who are on student senate.

If there is a chapter or alumnae group close to you, invite them over to do a "mock recruitment". Those women would be the "PNMs" and your chapter members would be the "Recruiters". This way you can practice round conversations and have a mock MS so the chapter (especially those who have never been through recruitment before) know what to expect.

Last thing.....until I think of more....
There is a yahoo group for Recruitment. I can't remember what it is right now (anyone know??) but I'll look for it and post it on here....I have to resubscribe anyway.

Make sure you use your CDC to get more ideas and such. They are a wealth of knowledge....especially by this time having been through Fall Recruitment and prep.

I'm the new VP: Membership for the Gamma Alpha chapter at University of Tennessee. I just had my first RPW last week and it went really well!

The Recruitment Confidential outlines exactly what you have to cover. But DeltaGamma.org has a lot of planning resources and handouts under the "sisters only" section.

The best advice I can give you it get a lot of people involved (older girls, chapter president, your ATC, and your recruitment advisor) It will make things more interesting and run more smoothly.

If you PM me with your e-mail I can send you my RPW powerpoint and my mock voting powerpoint.

ITB,
Courtney
