Hello Rozzblake :)
Is this "1st ever" collegiate stepshow being sponsored or at least cosponsored by members of fraternities or sororities? I ask this because many members of BGLOs feel we are being exploited by nonGreeks for the purpose of fundraisers and so forth. Other than that, I wish you all much success in this and please make sure you are as forthcoming about the cash prize as you are about the $25 registration fee. |

I know there are Deltas and a few other Greeks there who should be able to contact their chapters to see if the step teams want to compete. Also you should contact UNC Charlotte, Johnson C Smith chapters of NPHC orgs to get participation. |

This is the 1st stepshow for our band, however our band director is frat and this was his idea. As far as the prize, it's $1000 for the top Fraternity and $1000 for the top Sorority. |

I have to admit that it will be difficult to pull this off as an effective fundraiser since it is a band sponsored step show. You might want to look at getting high school step teams instead of GLOs. High school step teams are often mentored by BGLO members so maybe you all can have an exhibition. This is advice for your 1st EVER step show. :) Hope you can use some of it. |
True story.
When I was in high school, our faculty members were mostly AKAs, Deltas, and Alphas. Whenever there was a black history or college-related assembly, they would ALWAYS get Alphas and AKAs to step in exhibition. Never any other organization. Well, the Seniors wanted something different in 96-97. We decided hey, for our talent show, let's recruit Deltas and Ques! We always felt the Delta teachers were cooler than the AKA teachers. (In retrospect....yeah, they were LOL) And we wanted the Deltas' "brothers" to step, since the AKAs and Alphas had stepped at my school so often before. So we asked our Delta math teacher if the Deltas at Howard could/would perform (she was active in FCAC at the time and later became president of that chapter). Well, she told us off the top NO. (LG probably knows why, given the time period) Shoot, I gotta run...will give part two later |

Sorry to say that the band director might not be doing the best directing here. You all are pretty much playing the guessing game with a month left. Then you add CIAA to the mix and it makes college chapters even less likely to participate. I do hope you all don't neglect your other fundraising options in favor of this hiiiiiiiigh hopes for a GLO-based stepshow. |
