Rules for 2008

RULES FOR 2008 SERIOUSLY

1. Make realistic goals for yourself, write them down, pray about them and try to achieve them!

2. Go through your cell phone, caller id, calendar, and email addresses and discard all the people and events that mean you no good or don't benefit your life!

3. Stop making excuses about your life and make changes!

4. If you are involved with a person, job, or circumstance that is doing more harm than good, do yourself a favor - LET IT GO!

5. Stop being someone's mistress or man on the side; especially if you are aware that you are!!! If he/she really wanted you, you would be number one. Don't threaten the person that he/she is with. Obviously, that person is the one they want to be with and has more going on than you do and he/she is not about to mess their relationship up.

6. If you are between the ages of 22-35 please start listening to more than Hip-Hop! Broaden your musical repertoire.

7. Take care of your kids and devote a weekend or two when you spend "quality" time with them. Who cares if you miss out on a "mix"! You can party anytime!

8. Get your debt in order! Eventually you'll want a nice home and car in your name!

9. Stop spreading senseless rumors and try to get your own life in order!

10. Listen more! Talk Less!

11. Give without worrying about it!

12. Tell him/her no for once!

13. Tell people you love them before your hear about some great tragedy in the world or lose a close friend!

14. Speak clearly and not ignorantly! Anyone can be a fool.

15. If you are married or seeing someone, stop cheating. If you're guilty of this, ask God to forgive you and don't do it again! Remember the Ten Commandments.

16. Stop waiting on Tax Season and Save Now!

17. Eat what you need and not just because you can!

18. See how long you can go without checking your cell phone when it's not ringing.

19. Be more positive and stop being a grouch! I didn't do it to you boo!

20. STOP HATIN! If you don't like my style, kick rocks! DO YOU!

21. Start telling your children that when you're having a "grown folks" conversation, they need to go play. (Remember back when)

22. Appreciate everyone. WHY do we put each other down for the most ridiculous things?

23. If you are a person of color and you live w/or work in a white environment don't be the one showing the latest dances, singing the new Jay-Z or teaching Ebonics. Be better, not bitter!

24. Men and women! Cry more! It's therapeutic. Stop tripping about not being where you want to be! What have you been doing to get there?

25. If you aren't in a relationship, it's not the end of the world! Self love is more valuable!

26. Keep your opinion to yourself! We all know what others should do, but what about you?

27. If God delivers you from a messy relationship, friend or situation, why do you keep PULLING THEM BACK? Let it go!

28. FORGIVE! FORGIVE! FORGIVE! All of us have been forgiven for some low life things! So open your heart! Remember - God forgave you.

29. Men, stop trying to be so hard when it comes to relationships. Let that guard down before you lose the one that's meant for you!

30. Speak up for yourself!

31. Learn a new hobby! Broaden your mind.

32. If you're single, start going on more dates with different types of people. Don't just stick to the same type of woman or man!

33. Stop forwarding all the text messages you receive; everyone doesn't have unlimited text messages!!

34. Stop replying to ALL!

35. Live life today like it is your last day, love like God taught us, and laugh like you've never laughed before!

36. If you are still playing childish games, GROW UP! Stop trying to be with or screw someone who doesn't want to be with or screw you. Stop stalking people by phone, email, or MySpace. GROW UP!!!

37. Take time out to take care of yourself. No one can take care of you like you can. Have some ME time. Don't worry about things that you cannot control. Shake your haters off. If they spend that much time hating on you, they have nothing else to do. DO YOU!!! Be happy, love yourself and be peaceful with who you are. Remember, you are a unique person.

38. Lastly, if it's only 5 minutes a day have a little talk with Jesus! Let Him know you want to be better today than you were yesterday and watch Him turn things around for you!

Might I add:
39. Stop forwarding me every e-mail you get especially the Jesus chain mail ones. Jesus doesn't harrass people to come unto Him and he doesn't want you doing it on his behalf. I don't read them anyway.

40. Use BCC when you send e-mails to people who don't know each other. It's common courtesy.

Good Stuff!
'08 is the time for New Beginnings!
If people, (meaning me ;)) would just do 1/2 those things, life would be so much easier!

I am going to have to second the bolded text messages comment!! Seriously!

I am afraid of all the text messages I am going to receive on Tuesday...I am as excited as the next Soror but I really don't need 1,908 "Happy Centennial" text messages. :DLOL!

Oh God! You are so right. You AKAs might want to increase your text message plan now and then change it a week later in case you have some Jonetta Come Lately Sorors.

True for both of them!!

However, I must commend you for bolding #33. I get soooooo tired of those text that say something to the effect of: "You are home girl and we are tight. Send to all the fly girls in your phone" Grrrrr.

Also, Sorors have really been messing up my text telling me todays date (1.9.08). I love ya'll but please stop! I don't mind e-mail since I can delete it and not be charged, but text is another story!

It took me awhile to figure out the 1/9/08. I kept thinking isn't their Founders Day 1/15. LOL

I completely agree. I am tired of people taking my email address from a forward that my sent me and send out their own advertisement for a party, lecture, business opportunity. They don't know me, so don't clog up my inbox.

I know I'm a little late on the 2008 resolutions tip. But thanks for posting this. I printed it out to post on the wall near my dresser mirror and highlighting all the things I think I need to work on. Sometimes it's better to have your flaws and goals written out and in a highly visible place. Then you have no reason to ignore the fact that you have something to work on.
