Crush party ideas & A couple other questions!
 

Hi everyone :)

I'm social chair for a chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha, and I was asked to put together a crush party around valentines day. I'm not 100% sure what crush parties really are, and honestly, I don't think my chapters ever had one (It's a small chapter, and the campus is tiny, too.) The thing is: almost all of the girls in my chapter have boyfriends, and their boyfriends have been pretty longterm, so they hate coming to stuff and they rarely participate in things that we would have them do. They're basically all in the same fraternity on campus.

I was thinking of doing a "Trust your sister" thing, where a sister would pull a name out of a hat or something like that and then have to pick a date for whoever she had. So basically, we're all trusting our sisters to pick the right date for us, and we wouldn't know until the party. It wouldn't be as fun for my chapter as it might be for others, simply because literally 80% of the girls have serious boyfriends, but for the single girls it might pose a good time. When they found out who their dates were, I was going to do kind of a dating show thing and introduce them .. and maybe handcuff them together? Ughhh, I don't know! So many ideas!

It has to be on campus, so no drinking.. I wanted to do a "Chicks & Hicks" theme because all the guys are into hunting and fishing, so I think they'd like that.

What I'm asking is for some ideas for things to do during the party, and also anything else you're willing to tip me off with.





ALSO: I need to incorporate this with a way to raise money for our philanthropy, which is breast cancer research and awareness. I don't think it needs to be done at the crush party, so maybe some ideas on valentine-themed ways to raise money? I'm blank on this. :\

This is exactly what we used to do every semester (except it was a pledge class thing, the pledges got the sisters' dates & vice versa, but your way works too). It is definitely much more fun when most sisters don't have boyfriends. For a while the rule was that boyfriends couldn't be dates, but as more and more girls got serious boyfriends that didn't work anymore.

I like the "Chicks & Hicks" theme...being from an area where you get a day off school for the first day of hunting season I can relate. Everyone can put on their Carharrt & party down. Maybe you can have one of those fake target things set up (if you have outdoor space) and people pay $1 for however many shots at it...you can donate the $$ to breast cancer research.
