Hollywood's Vs. God's Formula for Lasting Relationships
Hey All,
I found this blog the other day on Dating/Courting and wanted to share it with you. I think that it could be a great discussion. Check out the link...I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts. http://chipingram.typepad.com/blog/2...oods_vs_g.html |
Too bible thumpin' for me. I think I'll pass.

I was impressed with the article and think it is great advice for those dating or engaged. Even if you are not religious, I think it is important to focus on something more important than yourself.
He listed necessary traits for a successful relationship/marriage, "...loyal, gentle, honest, loving, and committed." |

However, I liked the article and the references to passages. I hate to read something that says, "The Bible says xyz" but lacks reference. I also agree with Educatingblue that regardless of denomination this is advice can be used across the board. Especially Step 1. People are looking for what they want in someone, but are focusing on becomming better themselves. Quote:

Granted I'm a Christian, but I appreciate the sentiment. I hate divorce. I particularly hate to see Christians divorcing. In every single divorce I've encountered between Christians, one or both of the partners took their eyes off God. When you start relying on the other person to make things work, or worse, BLAMING the other person for why things aren't working, it's over. Something I've personally struggled with in my life (and it affects my marriage) is anger and resentment. It's hard for me to bless my own husband during an argument much less my "enemies." :) If not for God, I'd be outta here and it's ALL ME. It has nothing to do with my man. |

LOLOL...I didn't even think about that until you said something! |
