Completly honest recruitment thread
I have been a long time lurker on this site. Mainly just to read the recruitment stories, and i just came up with the idea of creating a username and posting my own, from last year.
When i read these stories, i really like the honest ones. I hate when girls are like... "I like this house, but not for me" "I dont fit in here" but never give specifics on ANYTHING. I am not planning on being rude or anything like... Im to pretty for this chapter, or anything Paris Hilton-y like that. But i am planning on being honest about the things i liked and didnt like about each house. I go to a not-so competive school with 5 NPC chapters and deferred spring recruitment. I took really good notes on recruitment, so if you wanna hear an honest real recruitment story... lemme know! |
Yes, please!

It is possible to be honest and tactful (e.g. I like this house, but it's not for me). It's not absolutely neccessary to go into details as to why (maybe the girl the pnm was talking to had a booger hanging out and was unaware of it)
And am I the only one who is over the phrase "I have a recruitment story, so if you want to hear it, let me know!" It's almost like the posters are seeking validation or something. Just sayin'. |
You read my mind, Texas Princess. Yes, by all means, if you have a story to tell, let your tale be told! But just post it without the whole "does anyone want to hear it?" thing - trust me, we want to hear it.

no you're not, i'm sick of it too and i'm not in any sorority.... yet *hoping for a good recruitment this coming fall though* :-)
and don't go into too much detail that would give away the sorority like well i liked this house but the whole dolphin thing in the kitchen was just not for me ..... or well the girls in this house were really super sweet but pink is just not the color for me and i don't like lions either.. no need for details like that.. so give details but leave them vague |

There was a "honest" recruitment story a few months back that was absolutely unneccessary. The pnm said things like "I cut that group because the girl I talked to wasn't very pretty" or "I didn't like the green shirts they wore with the fake pearls .. you could SO tell they were fake like ohmigawd" She was found out, and all the chapters she was talking about were easily decoded because of the things she said about them. |
Ladies (and Gentlemen, I guess)-
I am really not trying to be rude to any of you, but PLEASE let's not scare this one off. I really want something to read while I am bored at work tomorrow! And I really think this might be a good story!!! Because I kind of think that the Quote:
(again, not trying to be rude!) |
Think of it as the posters being good storytellers and piquing your interest. :D

You are welcome to post your story. I'm a fan of an honest recruitment thread, as long as you aren't being totally rude for the sake of being entertaining (i.e. "these girls were all totally fat whales LOL").

lmao. sorry you guys. im really not trying to get any validation. promise. I started the thread thinking that i was going to write about back ground information, and then realized, i really wanted to go to burger king, and kind of had a rush finish it, and that was the best cliffhanger i could come up with on an empty stomach! im no english major... no offense taken.
anywayz.... so yeah. I went through recruitment last year for deferred recruitment. I found this site because one of the girls who i pledged with wrote her recruitment story here, and when i think about... its going to be so friggin easy to figure out that we are on the same campus, but whatever. i dont really care. but i dont think it will be easy to figure out what school we go to. My friend did tell me that 1 person did figure it out (sent her a PM), but I have no clue how! some of you guys have amazing greek life knowledge...lemme tell you. the thing about deferred recruitment, that some may say is bad (i dunno really know) is that almost every girl rushing has a biased view of every single house. and i mean its hard not to, you go to school with the girls for 4 months, going to the same classes, same clubs, same parties, and then there is the gossip, which you always have to take with a grain of salt, but as a freshmen, you really wanna make the best choice, and the chapter you join can define your college life, so of course girls listen to what their older friend, fraternity guys, fellow rushees say... okay so the five chapters of my school, in greys anatomy characters (which hopefully i can watch again if this strike ever ends! but... i digress... sigh) Meredith- I had heard so much about this chapter. i knew that they had the highest gpa, which was important to me. i had also heard that they tended to be very stuck up, and thought that they were better than everyone. I knew one girl from this chapter kind of sort of. we had talked before, but we for sure were not bffs or anything. and from what i saw, she was not stuck up at all. but then again i didnt know her that well... I really wanted to see what all the hype was about, cause this was considered one of the top two houses. Izzy- Okay first of all Izzys were beautiful. I was immedatly intimidated by them. I consider myself a pretty average girl, so i didnt know if they voted based on looks or what... But the things i had heard. Crazy stories that i knew could not be true. Circling of the fat story? yup heard that one too. I was so nervous about meeting them. Izzy was also considered a "top house", and i hate to say it now, but that was important to me at the time. Callie- This was considered a good house to be in, not the best though, and definitely not a regect house or anything. Seeing these girls around campus, they are always hugging and smiling, and laughing. I had heard that no one ever leaves Callie. Meaning that if you ended up joining this chapter, you would never leave the chapter early, go inactive, or early alum, cause you love it so much. People thought of this as the chapter with the closetest sisterhood. But people also said that every heavy girl went through recruitment, went to this house. But i knew i wanted to give them a chance, cause 1. im not jennifer aniston exactly 2. I would much rather have heavy sisters who loved me and a sisterhood that i was totally devoted to than a chapter with cookie cutter girls who were stuck up or something. This chapter had also won greek fest the last two years in a row... Christina- I had not really heard anything about this house. No one really mentioned them when talking about greek life. Im really involved on campus but never really saw them at any of my organization meetings or events. My fraternity guy friends said that this chapter was for girls who couldn't get in Callie, but were too good for Bailey. Bailey- This house was known as the house for girls who just wanted to be in a sorority. People said, no one wants to be a bailey, you just kind of end up as one. so going in, my faves were (in order) Callie, Meredith, Izzy, Christina, Bailey. i was rushing with my friend, who already posted on this site, and my other friend "Jen". Jen was all about Meredith. She thought that they were the best house to be in. I talked to her about the "stuck up rumor" and she said she didnt care cause if she got in she would be in the best house so what did it matter? oh well... if you wanna know what happens, lemme know!!! (that was joke, in case you couldnt tell) |
I'm cheering for Callie and Christina!
|
well, i want to know!!! and i liked the picture you painted of each chapter.
