Online Multicultural Sorority

I just keep coming across different new Greeks. Gracious! :) Has anyone ever heard of Delta Sigma Nu? I couldn't find them in a GC search. Take a gander:

I'm intrigued but kinda...eh.

I need you to step away from the google.

Carefully, but quickly.

lol

I really don't know what to say to this.

I guess it's good that they're trying something new, but really...sounds like a small case of founder-itis.

From their website:
"We would like to help the foundations and communities that most sororities do not help." - Is there any aspect of the community that at least ONE organization doesn't serve these days? Hmm..

I'm curious to see where this organization will go.

No one's donating money to poor graduate students studying counseling in Illinois south of Kankakee...

Just making a suggestion!

I think tire recycling is so underserved by many GLO's....

Would you like them to call it the Drolefille Foundation?!;)

Thetagirl218 01-04-2008 10:18 PM

Yes, I think it would be great if there were a fund for recently graduated college alums who are struggling to find a job in our current recessional market.

Yet another great suggestion...!

On a serious note though, I find the concept of an "online" sorority rather ridiculous. Also I found it interesting that they had the EXACT same colors as Gamma Eta Sorority Inc. which is a Multicultural sorority at several schools in Florida.

*runs off to create new fraternity specializing in service/donations to graduate students studying counseling*

Now that you mention it that would be great!

IAWTC. How are you supposed to form a real bond with people you're probably never going to meet? Why not just make a "club" instead?

Again, I think it's just a case of founder-itis

There are a lot, but any organization worth its salt would be able to articulate exactly what that purpose is, and and how their organization addresses that aspect. It irritates me when the best explanation someone can give about why their organization was founded is a vague rambling about how they aren't like other sororities.

nittanyalum 01-04-2008 10:37 PM

I would like to be the first official donor to the Drolefille Foundation. I hear they're doing great things. Where do I send my dollar? And how big is the typeface for my name on the plaque? Or is it a statue? I've always wanted to visit the famous statue of Drolefille.

And re: the online sorority... my favorite part is how they say they'd like to see "new chapters" start at other institutions. Ummm... it's online. Can't everyone just join the one big "virtual" group?

I meant organizations in general (ex. non-profits, gov't agencies, etc), not just GLOs, but I definately see what you mean.

Agreed! I'm still shocked at how many LGLO organizations are around, and people are still founding more! The same thing seems to be happening with MCGLOs as well. There's a LOT of overlap going on, but these new orgs just keep popping up.
