Help with naturally curly hair, please!
 

I need some help! My hair is ...well...too curly to be nice and smooth with any humidity at all, but too straight to just leave wet to dry on its own. I have finally decided to forget the blow dryer for the summer and hope to arrive at a look that is worthy of Recruitment. Everything I try just leaves me looking like some leftover 80's freak! I can't use anything too heavy, because my hair is also pretty thin and fine. Think "part" burns. Ouch. I live in the smack dab of Southern IL, so my access to larger salons is severly limited (think Wal-Mart or the drugstore for haircare...siiiiiigh). If anyone has any reccomendations, I'd be eternally grateful

Honey, my hair is exactly like yours! But I live in Charleston, SC, where we have 98% humidity and it ain't raining! Try getting a curl enhancing spray (sometimes called curl shaping spray). I actually got mine at Wal-Mart real cheap. It will give your curls some shape without making your hair look like a lion's mane. Also, when your hair is still wet, scrunch it in your hands to make more curls. And once your hair dries, don't touch it! It will separate the curls and make your hair look frizzy! I too have crazy curly hair. The difference is mine is thick. I cannot even use a hair dryer, I have to let it dry naturally, or else I will look like I stuck my finger in a power outlet! Have you tried Frizz Ease? That stuff is a miracle worker for me, and it isn't heavy so it should work for fine hair too!

I know it's not good to swear, but I SWEAR by Permasoft frizz control creme, or sometimes it is Salon Style frizz control cream. It is in a pump. You can use a dime size for thin hair or more for thicker. I have been using it for ten years, and can't even attempt my hair without it. Every person I have ever introduced it to loves it. It is sometimes hard to find, grocery stores sell it and Walmart, but periodically they stop for odd reasons, but it always comes back. I was tired of stocking up and taking all from the stores, so I order it directly from the company online, www.Lamaur.com, I promise, just try it and seeeeeeeee..... It doesn't just work on curly hair, it makes my hair, ultra straight instead of my natural curl.

Does it always straighten your hair without you meaning for it to, or only when you purposely straighten it? I'm wondering because I might like to try it, but my hair looks 10 times better curly than it does straight, so I don't want anything that will take all the curl out.

It works both ways, straight or curly, whatever you want it to be. It adds Curl, or it straightens with no frizz. Like I said though it's hard to find, but usually you can request grocery stores to special order it for you. There is a more expensive version by Pantene pro-v, also in a pump that is smoothing creme. It runs about 7.50 a bottle for a small amount. You would be better off searching for it or putting in a request since permasoft runs 3.98 a bottle, and Salon Style about 2.67. Both have are bigger bottles than Pantene.
