Flushing after drinking alcohol
 

I thought this was something that only happened to Asians. I have everything but Asian in me. Last night my face got really hot after a drink and a half. What did that mean? Does anyone (non-Asian) else ever flush after drinking?

There was some frequent/urgent urination along with that, lol.

And would be one of the best ways of avoiding a hangover! Of all the things to remember from Pharmacology class...!

Yes...I develop a flush and hives like rash after drinking some kinds of alcohol. Most of the women in my family do. One of my younger sisters is so allergic to alcohol she can not even have contact with it on her skin.

It has to do with the development of an allergy to both the alcohol and to the sulfites that are used in the wine.

I flush most frequently after drinking wine. I have found I am pretty much limited to meads for wine. Communion wine makes me flush like you wouldn't believe.

It does show an increased allergic reaction that grows more severe over time and eventually all alcohol should be avoided.

It can become serious...be careful.

It happens to me, sometimes. I have Rosacea, so when I drink alcohol I turn bright red. It is worse with wine than with anything else, which is probably the reason I'm not so much a fan, particularly with reds. I somtimes get itchy when I drink reds. The more I drink, of any type of alcohol, the redder I become.

Yes, I get flushed and very warm after drinking wine. I don't mind it too much, though.

Yes, its pretty standard for people to feel hotter when they drink certain kinds of alcohol.

I get flushed if i drink too much too soon so i try to take things slow. When it happens it usually wears off after 20 minutes or so then I'm fine.

Hey, DolphinChica, does cheap wine from a juice box too produce the same effect ? :p :D No worries, the flush just adds to your hotness.

The itching could mean that you are allergic to sulfites, which are often in reds.

i'm half asian and i flush...after like a shot i get really hot...
