Dress code for NYE House Parties

I've only attended one NYE house party. The one I attended, people wore "everyday" clothes. I know you dress up pretty nice when you go out for NYE, but I'm not sure how to dress when you're just chilling at someone's apartment. I do know one person is wearing a dress, but she dresses up quite often, so I don't think I can go by that. Of course, I can just call some of my friends, but I'd rather not do that, yet.

What's your experience?

If you don't want to to go all out (dressy dress) or super casual (jeans), what if you went in the middle (maybe cute-fitting black pants and a nice top)?

i LOVE new years because it is ok if you dress up!!:D just wear a pretty dress you can wear a flashy one that you would go out in. remember its better to be overdressed than underdressed!;)

I went to a NYE house party two years ago. I wore a long velvet skirt and nice long-sleeved cotton sweater (it was in the lower 60s that night). Some people wore jeans and a long sleeved t-shirt. Some people wore long skirts. Some people wore outfits closer to costumes. It was pretty relaxed. Check with the host or hostess about the dress code, since it varies.

I threw a NYE house party a couple years ago, and the dress code was pretty much jeans or black pants and a cute shirt.

I usually wear a sparkly/otherwise festive shirt and jeans.

Can't go wrong with sorority pants.

I'm wearing my jammies. *LOL* I feel so old and lame, because we are staying home and playing board games. Ah, well it will be a good night of relaxation and rest, which right now we really, really need.

Gammies in Jammies? :DSounds perfect to me, Sister!

I'd usually be in my jammies for the neighborhood NYE block party, but tonight we're off to see the English Beat. I guess that could be old and lame too but I'm going to have a darn fine time!

Dressing Mr. Bejazd is tough. He still wants to be a punk rocker, even as a grown up! I think he'll be going with the dark jeans and black argyle sweater.

I took a risk and didn't dress up. Fortunately, only three people dressed really nice.
