Online information

I was wondering if any chapters have rules or regulations regarding information its members can put on the internet (such as personal websites, Myspace, or Facebook, etc.) that reflects on their GLO.

I've heard of some chapters having every member sign a contract that says the member won't put up any inappropriate pictures (such as drinking in their letters, etc.) that put the sorority/fraternity in a bad light. It's not saying they'll censor everyone, just in very extreme cases. Does anyone have anything like this on their campus, and if so how is it enforced?

We don't have any "concrete" rules, if you know what I mean. It's understood that you shouldn't drink in your letters. And if you do, to not post it online. I guess some people don't understand common sense though...

Our only real rule is that your photos that you post of you in letters must be in compliance with HQ's policy on what is appropriate for the internet when representing Sigma.

Most of our girls made their profiles "Friends Only" for privacy reasons, so we never had alot of problems.

If you check your GLO's magazine, they usually have rules about what they publish, and what the pictures can and cannot contain. You'll have to look around, it's usually fine print at the bottom of the "Chapter News" section. Many have rules against displays of drinking, "red cups", etc. And often the rules apply in letters or not.
