Hmmm, well, I can't hate on a brother for trying but I think they (whoever produced/directed this) could have gotten someone else for his part. Sorry, Combs just doesn't cut it for me. The rest of the cast looks interesting though.

I know...it's hard to imagine that Puffy could do this role justice, especially a role that Sydney Portier made famous. But I guess he did well on Broadway? I can't wait to see how it turns out though...I just love the original movie and the play. I can remember seeing my grandmother play the role of momma in a local play when I was a child.

Why ruin a beautiful play?!

Leave it as is...a play!

It was actually a movie first (starring Sydney Portier and Ruby Dee) so they are going to make a more up to date version of it.

Sorry, Soror, but the play was released in 1959. Don't tell me you didn't study the play "A Raisin In the Sun" in school? I know some districts were different, but that was a popular school selection that gave a realisistic protrayal of Lorraine Hainsberry's life and the life of most black Americans in the general black experience in the '50s.

^^^ I was thinking your soror meant that there was already one movie version out first, so in response to 5knowledge, the play had already been "ruined" once. :)

OK, I can see where it might have said that as well.

This educational moment has been brought to you by... ;)

From the clips i saw, he didn't do a bad job in the movie. I by no means am a Diddy fan, but heck, maybe he will do better at act ing than he does at rapping.

It ran well on Broadway. He must have done ok, they are using the same cast from the Broadway production in the movie.

Yes, that's what I meant. The film was released in 1961.

Don Cheadle Should Have Played Walter

The movie was great. The actors were great, but Sean did not add enough emotions to the movie. For me, I saw the original and when you see Sidney Portier play the part, the only person who is worthy of playing the part is Don Cheadle. He is the best under recognized super movie star.

watching it now with DH

Diddy didn't do bad. Like jcoleman said he was void of expression to me, but I enjoyed it.

IncontRHOllable 02-27-2008 12:37 AM

I'm sorry but I thought Diddy was horrible, just plain ole horrible. He should stick with the music industry. Sanaa Lathan and Phylicia Rashad were INCREDIBLE!!! I was just in awe of Ms. Rashad, she just brings life to every role she plays.
